Also T.J.Brodie and drafted Amirov.

I think they are all in on playing a certain way. If you go all offense, and the opposing goaltender posts a .940 or .960 sv pct in the playoffs... I guess the thought is you go more skill and offense. That TOR CLB series had an extra game in there or more with all the OTs, so the sample size is even bigger than a 5 game series.

Now CLB has issues scoring... which I think will slowly change as they try to take another step, but you can also see the Leafs really going for that old DET type of model. Which certainly isn't bad considering there are different ways to try and win.

what a disaster of a trade

or good scouting/development on COL part.

Little bit of both.

Begras never recovered from the head injuries that derailed his career. Graves wanted a new opportunity. Colorado completed gutted his game, rebuilt it, and sent the message that Graces was at a crossroads if he didn’t adapt. To his credit, he did and Colorado rewarded him by pairing him with an absolute stud.

Trade for Cirelli
Trade Strome for Savard

Kreider Zibanejad Buch
Panarin Cirelli Kakko
Lafreniere Chytil Gauthier
Lemieux Howden Barron
Smith

NotJJ - Trouba
Lindgren Fox
ADA Savard
Smith

Hopefully Reunanen, Miller or Hajek play like a Lindgren or Fox

Our development/AHL team was bad.

Hopefully we can address player deficiencies/make corrections moving forward.

So they offered him 1 year at 3 million? because if they offered him 2 years at 3 million per then it wouldn't be the term that was the issue.
I thought it was 2.5?

Either way 6 million in Carolina is like making $15+M in New York.

I really like Savard but why would Columbus do that after trading for Domi who's playing 2c for sure and going after Wennberg? Is he gonna play wing for them?
Who are we trading for Cirelli? A first rounder plus a Defensive prospect?

I don’t think it was that. Other guys have come through the system, especially on defense and been fine. Sometimes it just happens.

I mean we could make the argument it sucks, but then we’d have to ignore what we’ve seen from other young defenseman before and after Graves.

I thought I read somewhere on here it was for 3 million per but term wasn't identified.
Yeah I guess he took the 6 million in Carolina money over the 6 million in NY money BUT if the Rangers offered 3 million for 2 years it wouldn't make sense that the Carolina offer is better obviously. Maybe it was 2.5 X 1-2 years.

And those are all the reasons for Fast to take a deal with a different team.

Perhaps.

I'm not sure Carolina doesn't also have a bevy of upcoming wing talent that is gonna end up pushing him off the roster as well: Necas, Suzuki, Bokk, Puistola, Rees, Drury, Jarvis, Gunler, Nybeck, Pashin, etc.

I thought it was 3 years x 2m AAV.

Apologies if mistaken.

It would be since he got 3 years from Carolina.
Yes but would you take 2 years at 3 million per= 6 million or 3 years at 2 million=6 million? I would take the former 100 times out of a 100 unless you like working third year for free.

The bolded likely never play a game for the Canes, if at all in the league for various reasons.

I heard they offered him 2 or 2.5 for 2 years and they didn't want to go a 3rd year which is understandable since they will have money to pay out in 3 years.

Sure, but my point is that it's not like our organizational wing depth is that much better. I'd argue that other than the top 3 guys - Kakko, Lafreniere, Kravtsov - there is a lot more room to win a 3 year roster spot on our team.
