So, is it safe to say:
Henrik to WSH
Fast to PHI
ADA, Strome, AG, Lemieux to be re-signed and then shopped, more or less.

And probably a vet D and a vet F (and a vet G of AG is trades) to round out things.

We're trying to move Lemieux?

Eh I mean Howden is still young but he really needs to show some substantial improvement as he's starting his 3rd NHL season whenever that may be

I don't think it's crazy that he could improve, he has tools, but he's gotta start showing something
I don't see tools. I see a guy that's thick and tries really hard. Like Tanner Glass.

Hajek and Howden weren't rushed, they just blow lol

In a lot of ways, so does Andersson.

This is a new era in Rangers hockey in terms of the quality and quantity of draft picks and we need to learn that at least half of them amount to nothing. That's just how it works.
Wasn't 2017 a poor draft year through the entire 1st?

Are they steadfast on that? What if they went into this year with DeAngelo on the left and it turned out far better than they thought it might? I'd like to think they would be flexible enough to move off their position on it and do what works, if it works.

I wouldn’t rule it, but I’d say it’s highly unlikely.

In addition to the position concerns, there’s also cost and the desire to use established value to acquire value elsewhere.

I get that’s not the answer people want to hear. But it’s been a consistent response thus far.

I think that is a great example of why its debatable if you should judge the trade based on the value of the picks and the draft separately or all by the final results...

gropp sucks...but players taken in that same 2nd round after that pick Erik Cernak, Roope Hintz, Jordan Greenway and Vince Dunn...some of those guys are now topics of discussion that we want to trade for. If we had taken one of those guys then the trade especially given the circumstances would be good value...it was 100% awful drafting but does that make it a bad trade too?
It's all tied together and GMs need to finish. They're judged more broadly and hopefully we are still talking about Gorton as a president of hockey in about 10 or 15 years because that would mean good things for the team.

I'm really curious to see what Tampa ends up doing. They're out of touch if they think they're getting value back for their overpaid depth.

People saying Sergachev is over rated.. haven't been paying attention. There's a deal to be made here if Gorts and JD choose to

Cirelli, still only 23, can be locked up long term at a modest price ( through his prime ). High $4M- Low $5M. He'd be our #1 Matchup guy, #1 PK guy, great at ES and would easily put up 60pts a year playing with our wingers. If that's over rated, I do not know what to tell you. Not everyone will be Jack Eichel. Cirelli is the exact player we need
I think Sergachev proved in the playoffs that he can play excellent defense and probably raised his price. If he ever became available, I’d go to Tampa and carry him to New York.

Regardless of our current limitations, the Rangers I think have a really good plan. They know the types of players they want, they know the type of team they want, and I think they're working to execute that plan and are succeeding thus far. We have a very good prospect pool that can afford a couple of losses if we use them to get a player that's currently ready, and we currently have some incredible high end talent, like Panarin and Mika, and that only gets better with the addition of Lafreniere. Add on the potential rise of players already on the team like Kakko and Chytil and we have a very good foundation for a team. But how a team on paper looks very rarely translates to actual play. This is the key area right here. How we fill the holes in our team is crucial. You can sacrifice the cupboard for a big name player or give a lengthy, expensive contract to a FA, but that might not be the right move. You can try and trade one of your current players for pieces or keep him. It's incredibly frustrating as a fan, but as Bettman said, their goal is to start at the beginning of next year, so there's a lot of time to stew on what'll happen.

This is a really good time to be a Rangers fan. We didn't try and be too cute with the #1 pick and we drafted the best player in the draft and a player who projects to have the impact to change a franchise. Unlike most teams who pick 1st overall, we aren't an abysmal team. We really lucked the f*** out the last two seasons. While Kakko was not good last season, he started looking better and we saw glimpses of what he's capable of. Hopefully Laf can take the pressure off of him. I really like where we're at. I'm just incredibly impatient.

It’s almost as if the Ranger management took a step back and said we like all the pieces we've been drafting but we don’t exactly love the sum of the parts. This draft class looks a lot different than anything we’ve seen in the last few years. Sea change for sure. It seems like some soul searching, some JD influence and a very critical self evaluation and significant corrective action.

In what ways do you see a difference? Genuine question.

The foundation has been laid, time to get the supports

it matches the comments after the play-in series about needing to be tougher to play against. but I think it has more to do with winning back to back lotteries. the hardest thing to find is elite talent. I think early in the rebuild the focus is 100% on adding top end talent trying to find some elite players without worrying about where everyone 'fits' as a team...we then luck into Kakko and Lafreniere, get Kakko and a bunch of other talent and we are no longer hunting for elite talent. we can know move to the next phase which is building a championship team around that talent.

The toughest thing to acquire in a rebuild is elite talent. The Rangers are incredibly fortunate to have checked that box.
