I know, but there are people in the thread who think there is a comparable there --- which is interesting to me.

Monahan certainly isn't a savior, he's not my personal top choice, but there's a substantial gap there between he and Strome. That opinion not being univeral is where I'm surprised.
I think the $6.5 million is what is hurting the perception. $4.5 million and I would assume people are backflipping.

I'd say for most people, the cost of any trade comes down to the price.

I'd prefer Lindholm to Monahan, and Monahan to Danault.

But it depends on the cost difference, and availability.
Monahan then Lindholm then danault for me.

With Eichel aboard, I just don't see the need for Monahan.

Monahan and Danault kind of seem to address different "needs" so to speak...in a perfect world you'd run Zibanejad, Monahan, Danault down the middle and you'd be strong as heck (but impossible to afford).

Danault seems to be the responsible two way center we all kinda want but might not put up enough points to satisfy us and isn't a goal scorer. Monahan will put up the goals and it sounds like do more net front dirty work but isn't the two way all situations guy we dream of.

Which one is best for the team taking into consideration cost to acquire and contract status/demands? Tough questions.

Maybe the new system getting put in place minimizes Monahan's defensive faults? Have to add Martin to the equation now.

The thing about Monohan over Danault though is that you can fill those PK and defensive zone minutes with bottom sixers if you get 'em elsewhere (UFA/other trades/kids like Barron et. al. stepping up).

I haven't seen anyone say that Monahan wouldn't be an improvement over Strome in terms of ability and production.

I have pointed out that he costs twice as much as Strome and that is not enough as the main piece in return for ADA. But those are different statements.

He cost's twice as much as Strome now. In a few weeks, I don't think that's the case. And that's a key component to consider.

As for ADA's value, what do you feel is an appropriate type/ballpark of return?

What can we possibly offer TB for Sergachev

It makes sense for them to see what they can replenish for him... With McDonagh and Hedman already there... unless one of them moves to their off-side
Lundkvist + Chytil is what would get it done IMO, or Lundkvist + #22OA.

If the Rangers really wanted to, they could literally acquire any player in the league, sans McDavid and MacKinnon. They have that much in terms of assets right now.

Can't really afford to trade Chytil, so Lundkvist+22.
