This is the guy.
1 year left (maybe even a short year at that) and then he's an UFA
Seems more like a backup plan if they can't work something else out
This is the guy.
Heard from a friend...teams looking for an RHD who can move the puck are looking hard at DeAngelo and Dumba. Both of their teams are playing hard to get but they are in competition for with the same potential buyers.
Then we look elsewhere for a short term LD solution. So what do we do when Dillon resigns with the Caps?
This is a solid take. Lindholm’s availability could depend on how much Treliving wants DeAngelo.I've watched lots of Flames games, because I've always liked them from Canada, and usually when I wake up their game have been rolling before I go to work(because the time zone). And I can say Monahan is so soft. Not good at all defensively. Yes if he is on rhythm he can put puck in the net, but man he just don't commit enough to be a Center, and guy just disappears for the longest times. Flames fans are so annoyed about his efforts in the Center position they would more likely to see him play wing. Yes, sometimes new environment can change things, but in this case I truly think his commitment will never translate to be a good enough 2C
Lindholm is different case. But even Treliving knows this, and I'm pretty sure he is off the table.
the extension is the bigget factor IMO
The natural follow up to that would be if they've been talking about Lindholm for a while, what all of the sudden caused Calgary to push back on moving him?I would prefer Lindholm as well. But that might not be something Calgary is willing to do.
You’d think Buchy and #22 for Danault if you know you can handle the extension is a great trade for both sides.
You guys are greatly over selling Chytil.
His possible potential ≠ next year
He has a lot of developing to do. It doesn't mean he cant improve greatly year over year, but we shouldn't rely on it. Hertl played wing until he was 22. He took off at 25. I have doubts of Chytil even at 3C ( barring any developments at camp ) but a lot of people are just casually throwing him in as the 2C. I just dont see it
get them to throw in kulak or meteYou’d think Buchy and #22 for Danault if you know you can handle the extension is a great trade for both sides.
And yet, it almost always is.Whatever NHL player we bring in is going to have flaws.
And even blue chip prospects like Kakko and Lafreniere, are going to have flaws (the less, the better).
But everything we do is going to come with a risk factor. And simply waiting on every prospect to make it isn't going to be an option for the Rangers. It simply isn't.
We could go round and round in our heads about this and provide mental comfort however we want.
Let's pretend for a minute that ADA is on the Flames roster, and Monahan is on ours. If the shoe was on the other foot, we probably wouldn't want to trade for ADA.
We'd see posts about not needing a RD, not seeing a huge improvement over what we have in Fox, wanting to wait and see what we had in Lundkvist, not being solid on Chytil as a center to replace Monahan's established production, etc., etc.
I mean at some point, I honestly think that the fear of being "wrong" about something can't be the primary motivator for inaction.
Too rich for my blood. One or the other plus a minor piece. You’d think Buchy and #22 for Danault if you know you can handle the extension is a great trade for both sides.
No, I get the perception of DeAngelo and why the belief regarding Fox is there. I just wish it were a bit more tangible. People were of the board happy with Skjei only to have him regress.I mean I think a big part of it is also as Edge said the NHL (including the Rangers I'd guess) don't value DeAngelo quite as much as we do probably because of that defensive deficiency. I think if they didn't have Fox they'd absolutely be hanging onto him though.
I also feel like you're underselling Fox and what he did for some reason. A rookie on a 50 point pace with no 1st power play time is pretty nuts.
Ultimately if the Rangers are OK with moving DeAngelo I think they're seeing something in Fox that makes them think he can fill the same role but be a better player (plus he's younger and more cost controlled for the time being), they know they have Lundkvist in the wings, and they think they can fill some other roster holes that are in desperate need of filling
It's certainly a bit of a gamble but wait and see can also be wait and miss out
Way too muchI'd be legitimately pissed off if that happened, to be honest.

As long as you take advantage of it.
I wouldn’t even hesitate centers like Danault don’t grow on trees.
sure maybe Montreal adds a little something to facilitate but easily that’s a great deal for both sides

You’re on an island here.
