You've got the shot at some tremendous talent at 6. No doubt about that. I just have a hard time wrapping my head around how dealing a guy like DeAngelo for futures fits into the plan.

Besides that, I can't see Anaheim dropping from 6 to 22.

Yeah the rumor I saw had them willing to trade down a few spots. Nothing about them trading it outright or dropping to the 20's.
I read they saw three tiers, the top 3, then another (forgot the exact end point but I think they said 12), then the 3rd tier went until the mid 20s, then everyone else. So 22 COULD be in that range for them

i get it

i’m capped concerned. The pipeline is already loaded and a move like this would further load it. Meanwhile, the market is likely going to cheap are my thoughts. Not tying money up in ADA means the Rangers will have more on the ice through signings and have futures.

It’s a risk b/c ADA is still very young while those on deck have proven nothing.

I think it's less likely with Staal traded. He and Hank were the old corps,"old guard,"--DeAngelo, whether I like it or not, seems like a part of a new core. I have doubts they'll wanna rock the back-end boat like that... but would they be rocking the boat?

I don't think Tony is here long term, but he isn't going to be moved just to move him either. If the right deal is out there, Gorton will make it. If not, Tony will be re-signed, most likely for 2 years, and we'll evaluate again next offseason. If Gorton can sign him longer term for a reasonable number, maybe he does, and then trades him midway anyway. He still has 3 RFA years left, so any NMC/NTC wouldn't kick in until year 4 of the deal.

Yeah, but they'd be dropping an entire tier. Usually when teams are willing to trade back, it's because they believe they'll still end up with a player who is just as good.

I think that you consider it if you can get a player as good as ada that fits a hole on your team. I mean he is young and cost controlled still. The ducks are a team that will probably be looking for that. It's not like it would be offering them howden or lias and 22 for 6.

The Ducks at #6 are wiling to move their pick. Their scouting director Martin Madden said the Ducks aren’t married to the pick. The Ducks believe there is a top tier 1-3. The players 4-12 have the same value. The Ducks believe it’s a really deep draft until the mid 20’s. He spoke with Eric Stephens of The Athletic. Long time Ducks beat writer.

The Ducks are looking for a player to help their current team or pick up another pick by moving down.

Tony DeAngelo is a fit for them. They need an offensive D. Right-handed shot. They offered Kevin Shattenkirk a multi-year deal last summer. Their need is still there.

The Rangers pick up #6 and select Marco Rossi who is compared to Nicklas Backstrom. He should be there at #6. The Rangers get their center. Rossi isn’t far away from playing in the NHL.

DeAngelo and #22 for #6 and the Bruins #1 pick if they don’t want to swap #6 for Tony.
This is the stuff that we missed.

Welcome back – hope all's well.

So, we’ve now heard that Buffalo, Vegas and Anaheim all have interest in DeAngelo. If the Rangers are not prepared to commit long-term to him, I expect they trade him for the highest value, regardless of whether or not it includes a player who can step in.

It seems like many fans are such in a rush to trade Tony . Look if a deal cane along that makes sense then obviously we would have to consider it but there is no rush to trade Tony.

Does Buffalo even have the pieces to realistically land DeAngelo?

I mean, Reinhart is a nice piece, but I view DeAngelo as having more value. Would the 8th overall be in play?

I just look at their roster and prospects and don't see that one really nice piece I'd need to move Tony (barring Eichel/Dahlin, which is a whole different animal IMO).

last year with the holdout we saw he wants to get paid regardless of who has the leverage. he eventually did the right thing and came to camp and had a fantastic season, but i suspect now he will also be holding out to get paid what he sees as fair value for his production, which is fine. I just cant see nyr doing it though, especially when he doesnt have arb rights. it just does not fit their history of handling rfas. so you have a brewing conflict and this would be the year to trade him before he has arb rights. he is just so damn good at transitioning the puck and I think that was a huge part of our pp1's success last year working zone entries and getting up the ice quickly. if he is moved that will be my biggest concern going forward. there are a couple guys in the pipeline that have a chance to slide into that pp1 point slot, and so does fox, but ada was so smooth there. the struggles of the cap...

If u moved 22 and DeAngelo for 6 and 27 I'd be game... But it would definitely make us worse for next year... I'm not sure I see the rangers making a step back type move

They would get a great prospect at #6 and also have 5.5 million dollars or so to spend to try and mitigate the loss of ADA. Seems like a no brainer to me.

could also be interesting in rakell is a target in a ducks trade with #6 for ada. if you could do #6 and rakell for ada and #22 that would fit Gorton's mo of getting players to help now. Rakell can play center or wing. Could then still open the option to move Strome to ott. Who knows at this point what he's going to do. Lots of options...
