I think it's legitimately a timing thing. Perhaps the date is the draft, but if nothing happens, I'm sure Eichel has a say in that. Jack would be a valued member of the team, and a centerman of his skills gets to see what life is like having likes of Panarin, Lafreniere, Kakko, & Kreider as his wingers. Perhaps even Buchnevich or Kravstov.

Add in a better team around him, and a fresh change of scenery. I mean Jack's gotta ask himself what does another year do to his mental health? Does he have the patience to sit through another year. I think between him and Lafreniere you have hockey's version of Durant and Kyrie. He knows what's going to happen. So why wait another year?

I mean I'm sure Eichel's camp is in contact with the GM and ownership and he's on record voicing his frustration with the lack of success. So they've got to weigh the pros and cons of working on Eichel's timeline vs working on their own. Those two things might not overlap and at that point you've got to make a tough decision to make if you're Adams. That being said, I don't think Eichel will actually force his way out of Buffalo until he has some control over where he lands. Right now he has zero trade protection so he could ultimately end up somewhere like Calgary. So he has to decide if it's winning above all else or if he also wants to make sure he ends up in the right market.

A big problem for Buffalo is their lack of resources to make big improvements. They've got a ton of cap space but they're cutting salary and that will hurt them on the open market. They don't have a lot of quality prospects in their system. The 8th overall probably isn't helping them right away unless they trade it. Ristolainen has been "available" for what seems like forever now and they haven't moved him and now the market is flooded with RHD.

Its just like Eichel. You’re filling a fairly rudimentary roster need with the most extravagant and expensive option possible.

Our rebuild right now is like we were just hired for a new job that pays way more. Ok, you splurge a little at the start on Panarin and Trouba, but if you keep spending like mad you’re not going to save up any money for when you might need it. And plus you have a few kids who are going to begin expensive private schooling within the next few years. Sergachev is more splurging. Eichel is beyond splurging, that’s like instead of getting yourself a nice new TV set you go buy a f***ing Lambo and drive straight to Vegas from the dealership with a duffel bag full of cash.

Hanifin reminds me too much of Skjei for some reason but I honestly don’t know too much about him.

At least with Eichel he's a proven commodity but I get the sentiment.

I know a lot of people feel that way about Hanafin and I get it. Big, mobile, and American. Long term deal he got early in his career and hasn't lived up to it yet. That being said, there's way better pedigree with Hanafin which tends to go a long way in hockey circles. If you're looking for a guy to bridge you to the era of Miller, Robertson, etc, you could do worse.

Does Chytil need to show something this year? Sure. Does it mean if he does not net 50 points that he is sent to figure it out elsewhere? Not sure why.

This is still a 20 year old kid. He has to develop physically. He needs to develop his game. That might take some time. Look how long it took ZBad to make that turn. Saying that this is a deciding season for a 20 year old seems a bit short sighted by management. I doubt that is the case. Which does not mean that he may not be used as an asset in a trade, but in and of itself as long as he continues to take steps forward, there are reasons to believe.
Their threshold for acceptable is beyond either of us. I know you probably are just using 50 points as a 2nd C standard base line. I think it might be a bit much to expect 50 from him this year. I personally think that they need to view him as a legit 2C by the end of next season. He may not even play much on the 2nd line, but he needs to play in such a way that they look at him as being the inevitable choice. If they have serious doubts by the end of the season, I could easily see them making other plans. Especially if they traded ADA for Glass/Krebs, which both seem to be more natural playmaking Cs.

He could've phrased it as personal news.

Either way, bait is still bait. But whatever.

I want some Rangers news!

Any good hockey podcasts for people that liked Bobcast but hated Spitting Chiclets

@Edge have you heard any names that the team may be looking at as of second goalie if AG is in fact traded? I feel like that's something nobody's touched on.

Can’t say any particular names have come up.

I’m sure they have names of guys, and rankings. But I don’t know who they’d prefer or any leanings they have.
