IMO a move for Eichel is NOT a 'one player away' move. that is the type of move you make for a veteran....Eichel is 23, it would be a long term move.

Zibanejad's elite window doesn't match the lafreniere/kakko/fox/shesterkin window...those guys will hopefully be elite beyond mika's window. Eichel fits that timeline. And we'd be lucky to find a legit 2C now that we won't be getting a top pick no less another #1 that could replace mika when he declines.

You get 2 elite centers for 2 years, then you deal zibanejad rather than signing him for $12 mil till he's 38 to replace the chips to get Eichel who becomes the #1...at that point hopefully Chytil or someone else has emerged as a legit #2 cause they were given time and then you roll forward from there.

THAT is why a potential deal makes sense to me if the price was right....and i'm not pro-eichel trade necessarily, but its not a short term move.

Winning logic all around

That is not what I was trying to convey. I understand that Eichel is 23. But when you are bringing in a player like that, it says to me that you believe that you are that type of player away. And they are not.

That's not what it says... it says you believe having a long term #1 center is vital, which it is.

Do you know are there deals done that have been sitting waiting to be announced after the finals? Not just NYR related, but league wide? We all know the league doesn't want those things done during the finals, do you have a sense we will see some significant movement in the coming days or are we going to be waiting until draft night?

And personally between glass and krebs who is your choice if given the option?

You hear rumors of things. Supposedly San Jose has some pretty advanced talks re: Murray.

Minnesota and Winnipeg had some chats concerning Dumba and Laine and Donato.

It's hard to say with regards to timing. My gut would say the next 72 hours is when you'd start to see some things get closer to the finish line, if not cross it.

Re: Krebs/Glass - I like Glass' offensive ceiling higher, but I don't know how the Rangers have them. They liked both guys in 2017 and 2019 respectively.

Generally speaking, there should be quite a few guys in the Knights system that the Rangers like. But again, to this point, the preference has not been to go with picks and prospects so I am curious as to how they'd approach any interest from Vegas.

I think it says that you have a chance to acquire an elite talent that most franchises would build their team around. It would be different if it was 29 or 30 and you were bringing them in as a final piece for a run.

My bigger concern is that bringing in that big of a talent and that big of a personality could completely disrupt everything around your organization. I mean we all look at zib as a number one center, our number one center It suddenly this guy's going to get pushed back. Like which line's going to end up getting the majority of the offensive zone starts, how are the starts and ice time going to be broken up. I know that these are things that can work themselves out but when you're bringing in a player that completely shifts a lot of other people downslots it can be good and it can be bad. I think so long as there's not too much upheaval if such a trade was done then it would be good for the organization to get that sort of a talent. Beyond that, if you can essentially replace strome with eichel on the half wall for the power play that would just be a thing of beauty. one thing I always hated about our power play was the fact that strong being a right-handed shot was trying to make plays honest side that eliminated his opportunity to use a shot from that side of the ice. I also think the fact that Quinn is here to help mediate a situation of bringing in such a big player could be a real positive for us. The fact that he's been with this team for a couple of years and he has rapport with the players that are here already and he's coached Jack puts him in a unique position to have relationships with all these guys prior to the actual introduction of a player like that.
Eichel is Eichel. Of course you have to listen. My worry is someone similar to yours. Such a move would completely reorganize the room. Major piece coming in. Major pieces going out. ZBad, unless he is part of the deal, essentially being put on notice that his time here is limited to the end of his contract.

Also, I am not so sure that Eichel is what this team actually needs.

Do you think Karlsson is a possibility?

Weren’t you one of the people pushing back on trading DeAngelo for “futures”?
Not really sure what has changed. Where have I made any contrary claims?
So he doesn’t have a future here on the right side or the left side but trading him for a top ten pick is bad because how are we gonna replace his 60 points for the next season or two? Despite having another top offensive defenseman here in Fox and another who isn’t half bad in Trouba?
Who said that he doesn't have a future on the right side?
That cannot really be your take.
Not sure what you are getting at here. My "take" has not really moved at all.

So here's your update for today:

Vegas pinged the Rangers last night and again this morning inquiring about ADA.

No, I don't have official confirmation on who they are targeting at this time but most guesses on here would likely be in the ballpark.
This one is easy to put together;

Krebs or Glass
A second piece of value -- a high pick or perhaps Tuch
A defenseman currently under contract (Vegas has to move some salary out)

This represents a great opportunity for the Rangers with their current draft position and asset base to get a future #2 center.

Who said that he doesn't have a future on the right side?

You literally just said that a right side of ADA-Fox-Lundkvist isn't happening, and also that Trouba isn't going anywhere. Then you said ADA isn't getting moved to the left side either.

You are putting an awful lot of eggs into the "Rangers are definitely moving Lundkvist" basket then.

To me, that would point them at Glass, who is really on the cusp of establishing himself as an NHLer player, rather than Krebs who might still be a couple of years away. I'm not exactly sure how VGK fits DeAngelo into their cap structure without sending some salary back to us, though.

Setting aside an Eichel deal for the moment, 100% agree. And frankly this opportunity could be a future #1 center.

Want Glass, really. He could be a 1C - low end perhaps, but still.

Wouldn't Glass be that future #2?
