I have full faith in the guy. Stevie Y also remembered the multiple solids we did him and took Marc Staal now.

I trust we won't get hosed since buffalo, though with full control of the kid, is in quite the shit predicament even before covid ravaged their finances further.
I honestly think the piece that they are forced to give up that will hurt is Miller. I think that's the guy they ask for. The other things we can deal with.

Def not looking forward to that if that's what it is, but luckily I think we can make up for it.

And it's f*cking Jack f*cking Eichel.

He was an absolute monster until one of the biggest cheap shot artists in history got him right in the head.

That's where it all ended. A cheapshot.
The Stevens hit was payback. Lin does was a huge man who bullied his way all over the ice.
He had several fights with Scott Stevens and pretty much beat him clean like he did to most people he fought. You knew Stevens was waiting to get him back and he did. You live by the sword you die by the sword. Stevens absolutely crushed him in the head on that hit. Lind rose because of his size and intimidation factor often had his head down when carrying the puck. And he paid for it.
Kasparitis got him as well.

Probably all the other things you said in your post. Young roster center (Chytil), Top Prospect (Krav or Key), Georgiev possibly, and probably multiple firsts - if done now Carolina's this year and next year's unprotected. Maybe even a conditional 2022 based on team performance. You know that Gorton likes to get creative with the conditional picks.
With that type of offer (DeAngelo, Chytil, Kravstov), there is no need for multiple firsts or Georgiev. The Carolina pick from this year would be more than enough.

I honestly do not want Eichel. He doesn't fix any of our current issues. As silly as it sounds, if we're to grade our offense out of 10, we're in the 9's IMO. We do not need more offense. We need checking centers and forwards and LHD who are NHL capable.

Lindholm and Cirelli types should be at the top of the list for 2Cs.
Bonino and Tierny types should be 2-3rd prizes for 3Cs.

LHD - I really think they're going with Miller. The writing is on the wall. There will still be a spot available but I think Smith will start at 3LHD and pair with ADA. Ideally, we'd get a solid puck moving LHD to pair with Trouba until Miller is truly ready but they may just throw him into the fire.

Miller Trouba
Lindgren Fox
Smith ADA

This.

Personally I don't think the 22 overall pick is gonna sell it. I am of the mindset that this guy isn't gonna return a Lindros, however, multiple firsts is something that should and I believe will be on the table. If they trade Eichel they are restarting a rebuild, they will need the picks if they aren't going to get our best (Laf and Kakk). And I think that's part of what will make it more palpable.

One thing I haven’t seen mentioned when bringing up Zibs next contract is the effect of the flat cap and decrease in revenue league wide. What right now looks like a 10 mil cap hit, may be 8.

How many teams will have the cap room to dish out a contract like that? And they may not have the cash either. Would he take a front loaded 8 with large signing bonuses from us vs 10 with no signing bonuses on a non competitive team?

Thoughts?

I agree, he was literally unstoppable. It doesn't justify it, but Lindros was a dirty player too. My uncle played in the NHL in that era and says that he was one of the most unlikeable players in the league.
Lindros wasn’t a particularly dirty player but he was unlikeable. He mowed guys down. Lindros road kill was something I haven’t seen from another player in years. Great skill, great speed and a really good team guy but he was never comfortable being the captain. His teammates loved him, management not so much largely because of his meddling parents.

Headshots are not “payback”

I have full confidence in JG & JD that they are smartly kicking the tires if they think Eichel is available. Any GM that doesn't isn't doing their job...but have full confidence that they aren't going to 'give away the farm'. if the deal doesn't make sense for us and it doesn't fit they won't make it.

“If you want Rick Nash, you better be prepared to give up Ryan McDonagh and Chris Kreider.”

Rick Nash had a NMC and if I have understood it correctly only wanted to be traded to two teams. Eichel can be traded anywhere.

The only way I'd ever be on board with an Eichel trade is if Brooks was correct and Trouba was a major piece going the other way.

ADA, Chytil, 22, prospect is a good trade value-wise for NYR but I don't think it's the correct move in the salary cap era. I do think Chytil is one step away from really becoming a star player.

With Fox, DeAngelo, Lundkvist on the right the Rangers could survive without Trouba. But NYR would never trade him so its a moot point

If Trouba goes, then we will be looking for a new trouba who would be our matchup rd. I get that people dont love his caphit but he as a player is part of the structure of the team.

And I think that is where the conversation needs to occur. Kaako resides in that gray area where they COULD include him but it would need to make sense with the rest of the package. By that I mean I'd be more okay with:

ADA + Kaako + CAR 1st

than I would:

ADA + Kaako + Buch + CAR 1st

If I am taking on 10 per, Kaako is off that list

I think Fox and perhaps Lundkvist will be able to handle that role sooner than later.

If the NYR were to acquire Eichel, cap wise it would be about Eichel’s contract through 2026 vs Zibanejad’s next deal starting in 2022 which is trending towards $10M+. That is where it gets interesting from a cap perspective, and the ELCs allow for a window where the NYR have both.

I'm sure he's just busy living his life, which isn't this board.
I didn't see him post last night either. He has been pretty regular on here lately so I was just noticing that he hasn't commented much since right when Bob Mac tweets broke. Maybe I just missed him, but who knows.
