I think Fox and perhaps Lundkvist will be able to handle that role sooner than later.
If you make the trade for eichel it's not with an eye to wait for Lundkvist to develop into your top pairing d man, and as much as we all love fox he still needs development time to see if he hits that top pairing d level. fox really didn't have to do the heavy lifting this year, nor should he as a rookie. He very well may be able to in the future but I think there is a difference in letting a player grow into that role versus throwing him in there without a net. With as weak as the left side of our d is right now I don't see it wise to remove our right side d who is our matchup defenseman.

I wouldn't read into it. There was a bit of backlash on the messengers yesterday so its probably a little break or normal life taking precedent.

Agreed. He also chimed in to say, and I’m paraphrasing, none of this is really news and consistent with things he mentioned earlier. Not to put words in his mouth but I’d expect this falls under “not much new to report”.

We as a board have gone a little wild with the BM tweets, all in good fun in a NYR starved year if you ask me.

Trouba included in a package for Eichel do make some sense for the Sabres. His 8 mill. signing bonus is paid already I believe. And for the years remaining his total cap hit is 48 mill, but salary is only 36 mill. And I know Buffalo has been looking for a partner for Dahlin.

Yeah I'm not making Miller untouchable to get an Eichel deal done if need be. We'll see what happens. Personally I don't expect this to be a move made this season. But next season?

Yeah, I absolutely believe we don't have to do much right now. This year will be a measuring stick at the NHL level for many of our guys.

Next season we'll have much more clarity about where many of these guys are at.

Teams have to spend to the cap floor every season, just to exist. If the 12 is the problem and not the 2, then Buffalo should just call it a day and move to Quebec.

Well, if it were me and my budget was limited then I’d be spending it on players that are wearing my team’s jersey not someone else’s.

Not to mention, it would be difficult for Buffalo to get a player like Trouba to agree to the term he's already agreed to.

He was an absolute monster until one of the biggest cheap shot artists in history got him right in the head.

That's where it all ended. A cheapshot.
Anyone who was around to watch Lindros pre-Stevens-hit would never discount how dominant he was. I started watching hockey seriously in the mid-80s, and for my money, the top-10 most dominant players I've ever seen – based strictly on ability to take over a game – were, in order:

Gretzky
Lemieux
Lindros
Hasek (curveball!)
Crosby
McDavid
Jagr
Lidström
Messier
Ovechkin

HM:
Bourque
Brodeur
Bure
Chelios
Coffey
Dastyuk
Karlsson
Leetch
Roy
Stevens

If Trouba goes, then we will be looking for a new trouba who would be our matchup rd. I get that people dont love his caphit but he as a player is part of the structure of the team.
I think Eichel's impact in a game would be greater than Trouba's. Fox can step up.

I rage when people say we need to trade trouba but if we are talking eichel you still make the deal. its easier to replace trouba than find an eichel.

Personally I don't think the 22 overall pick is gonna sell it. I am of the mindset that this guy isn't gonna return a Lindros, however, multiple firsts is something that should and I believe will be on the table. If they trade Eichel they are restarting a rebuild, they will need the picks if they aren't going to get our best (Laf and Kakk). And I think that's part of what will make it more palpable.
I understand that. But my view is that the offer is good enough without it. They can certainly ask for anything they want.

No HM ?

Edge probably got bored with telling us all to chill out about Eichel after the collective freak out and needed a mental break.
I was working on this theory that Edge was Eddie Olczyk but that got disproved while Edge was posting during the SCF while Eddie O was talking on air.
Does anyone remember Edge ever posting anything related to horse racing? LOL
