How about neither?
I don't find that likely because of how Panarin and Trouba accelerated the timeline. There's not enough depth to bring them both along organically on their own timelines to coincide with what is now quite a few prime aged pieces on large contracts.

Well considering that Kapanen basically brought back 15 and a recent 2nd round pick, I would think Buch+21-24 has more value than 14.
You need a JR on the other end of the deal who doesn't mind paying up or really likes Buchnevich (or both). It's certainly possible. I tend to think of things in a range of potential outcomes which is why I give a range.

In terms of possible scenarios, Buch + 21-24 for a pick to draft a Lundell is very high on my list of realistic outcomes.

So what? That means we have to trade two of the best prospects?

The entire purpose of bringing in someone like Lindholm is to bridge the gap until when those two are ready to contribute. Trading one of them for him completely defeats the purpose of acquiring him in the first place.

Of course there's enough depth. Lundkvist can be the 3rd pair RD in 2021 if we trade DeAngelo. Trouba-Fox-Lundkvist. That's a great right side.

And you who's our #1 LD? Who's our #2 LD? We only have Lindgren right now. Robertson and Jones are in the pipeline, but K'Andre offers more potential than both of them. K'Andre has the potential to be much better than Lindholm.

Seriously though I know it's not a 1-1 comparison but I'd be calling every team in the league about Strome after this deal

They should be.

Maybe you don't find a buyer for value but there's no reason not to be asking.

You committed to Kreider and Panarin

you’ve drafted Kaapo Kakko

you’ve traded a valuable young righty D for Julien Gauthier.

You’ve drafted and signed Morgan Barron and Vitali Kravtsov

you’re about to draft Alexis LafreNYR

You’ve committed to these kids you need to cut bait with Fast and Buchnevich. Neither should be in anyway blocking these kids from opportunities they need to be in to grow. Let’s go

It's really that simple.

And there's no need to get sucked into paragraph long debates with any posters who want to get cute and play what if.

There's no room for Buch here long term. You just named all the kids that are going to take his opportunities.

Who cares if they aren't all RWs? You can't pay primo dollars to all your wings, and these kids are gonna be the ones who get paid, not Buch. He needs to be liquidated.
