Yeah I’ll second that, Button’s rankings are...something

Turcotte at 12 is a head scratcher, even more so is Newhook at 28 lol

Is it good if the Rangers are the worst team in the league and Chytil/Andersson/Howden/Pionk/DeAngelo etc. fail to make the team or make the team and are huge disappointments?

For some, absolutely. We'll get another high pick that might fail.

Nobody wants to acknowledge any downsides or any notion that rebuilds fail.

I'd rather pick 9th again if it means the five guys you mentioned were all great.

That doesn't mean we have to be happy about it, but some folks have rooted for this team to be terrible for a long time, even when they were good.

I’ll never forget the discussions about blowing the roster up and tanking during both the 2014 and 2015 playoff runs.

Bingo. Especially the last point.

Not to mention we can both root for the team to be good, maybe even fight for a playoff spot and also want Gorton to proceed with the process. It’s not necessarily necessary that we be literal hot garbage for this to work.

I get that some people have their mind made up that you need to fully bottom out and ignore the examples of teams that botttomed out and got tons of high picks and still suck and won’t acknowledge that fact that team building isn’t as easy as following one blueprint, there’s a lot of randomness and luck involved and there are different blueprints and paths you can follow.

Because I feel some people root against this team on this team's own forum, and I don't think that's fair to the fans of this team.

I hate it so much.

I expected them to sign a top d-man, didn't happen. Right now our blueline is worse than the bad one we had last year after losing McDonagh. I feel sorry for Hank, he's probably going to toss the net over the boards at some point if they fail to help him out.

...

It’s exactly the same one, plus a healthy Shattenkirk.

The only acceptable outcome for this season is a) the Rangers play hard every night and are at a minimum competitive, b) young players take strides. If these things happen, I can accept a bottom five finish. If these things don't happen, we've got a big problem and the current management team will have an even bigger problem.

No PTO's.
After watching these kids in Traverse, do you really see any of them capable of making the big club or are they just going throw them into the fire?
I don't see them as being ready to make the jump and unlike some of the other posters, I do think that this tournament is extremely important for evaluation.
It's it sole purpose for existing.

Excuses are getting old around here.
Every other team goes into this on the same exact terms and to blame the coaching or saying that there's no chemistry or it's a weak roster just doesn't fly in my book.

Clark was super pissed last year to the point where they even removed his interview from the NYR website so if anyone actually thinks that these tournaments aren't important to the organization are completely out to lunch IMO..
