If there is smoke building around Buch to NY, I really don’t want to give up a first.
You have to pay for your mistakes...

But unfortunately as I heard from a guy who talks to him (at least they defo talked in the past), it's personal with him and NYR :(

I mean there's always hope, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

if no takers on Kal and he is super cheap, fine but after this season
stay w/what we have and add youth

No, we are not agreeing to move Rempe

Belz can def go
if somebody is earning it, let him replace Good

other choice is a D upgrade is gonna cost
maybe we can do a Yankees Chapman gets Torres
and
deal Vesey for a D upgrade, directly or indirectly

Again, no
no more youth for rentals

is it not enuf that we enjoy how effed the Isles etc are, and you wanna be a lemming and jump off the same cliff

You act like Rempe would be gone . A 21 yr old late round pick would be playing more in the AHL vs getting 5 minutes in the nhl

No way he’s on the playoff starting 12F

The rangers trading for buch now would be the funniest thing ever. Also give me a break if it’s “personal” between him and the Rangers. It was a rebuild and he got traded away and immediately signed a 30 million dollar extension. Must be nice

give ME a break. He's an exact type of player we need and no f***ing way you're finding one like him for the money he's got anywhere on the market. How can you defend that when his contract is actually rather team friendly? With the team he has no history with. That contract is a big slap in the face of NYR brass if anything.

Personal as in with Drury obviously. Well as I understand it.

Don’t remind me . No idea how they didn’t get a 1st round pick and now the cost is for sure a 1st plus more

Buch or Zuc for that matter are ideal but it’s not happening

Pacioretty is interesting. Make it conditional on games played. If he’s healthy, even if he isn’t scoring, he’s effective

Can he play RW?
Cost should not be more than a 3rd given he hasn’t done well

I’m on the Zucker train personally

Zucker and Dermott for Jones and a 4th

Watch for Ranger scouts at Caps games. They will know whether he still has any gas in the tank.
Pacioretty is another LW. The guy in Pittsburgh is another LW. Pacioretty said geography is very important to him. He would walk to NY to play for the Rangers. He is a LW.

Same scouts that helped bringing Kane last year? Sour grapes by me but I can’t help thinking that this was the trade that sunk last year’s chances more than anything else and made me wary of any potential acquisitions of help with health issues. The writing on the wall was there without any hindsight needed. I hope Drury learned his lesson.

I wonder what he does in a different environment

My player I would like to see them go for is Yanni Gourde. I heard on NHL radio the Flames may move Kadri but he has too much hit and term. If you look at Gourde as a two season rental, which realistically is this teams window, it makes alot of sense. If Seattle falls toward the bottom in the next two weeks that's my guy.
So you know the first thing that Lavi (or any coach) would do is put Gourde and Goodrow together on a 3rd line. Still want him?

Bread , Tro, Laf
Kreider , Zib , X
Cuylee, x, Kakko
Goodrow , Brodz, Vesey

Wennberg and Eberle
Or
Zucker and McBain/ Bjustad
Ideal

Not as good
Girgensen, Ollofsson
Rozslovic, Kurlay
T. Johnson , Beavillier
Duclair , Sturm

I usually agree with the vast majority of what you say on here. However, I take issue with this. Buchnevich ranks up there behind only JT Miller in the worst trade in the last 10 years. If we have
Miller and Buchnevich on this team, we win a cup, the last two or three years.

So you know the first thing that Lavi (or any coach) would do is put Gourde and Goodrow together on a 3rd line. Still want him?
Gord would be my number one pic as a player to target, the point is moot, Seattle made it clear they are not trading him.

The Blues aren't one of these rebuilding teams. They like to remain competitive and infuse young players into their lineup. The Blues owner Tom Stillman isn't made of money. The Blues need to sell tickets. The Blues traded Tarasenko and ROR for first round picks before the deadline. Everyone thought the Blues would package one or both of those picks for an established player like Meier or another player after Meier went to the Devils. What happened to Meier? Everyone thought Meier would be the missing piece for the Rangers. He has been brutal. The Devils gave him an 8 year extension last summer. The Russian kid they traded will play in the NHL. Musty was the first round pick. Jersey owes SJ their 2nd this year.

The Blues used all three first round picks last June. They like Daborsky. He is playing in the OHL this season. He could probably play in the NHL next season at 19. The Blues have a high price on Buchnevich. Two first round picks or a first and a top prospect. Maybe more. The Blues gave Thomas and Kyrou those big contracts. You knew Tarasenko and ROR were gone. The money didn't work. The Blues have new group of young players.

The Jets are another team which can't rebuild. The Athletic had a really good article on the Jets and their attendance issues. Their season ticket base has dropped from 13,000 to 9,500. The team needs 13,000 to be viable in Winnipeg. Their ticket prices are the 2nd cheapest tickets in Canada. That's why they gave Hellebuyck and Scheifele 8 years. They will worry about the later years later because the team might be there. The Jets wanted to acquire Lindhom but the Canucks made that trade. The Jets were talking to the Habs about Monahan but they didn't want to give up a first round pick. Lindholm is in Vancouver. The Jets need to make the playoffs and go on a playoff run because the future of the franchise in Winnipeg is at stake. Tough division. Dallas and Colorado. The Jets gave up the pick. Monahan got off to a slow start. Bumper PP. He scored a goal against Vancouver and a hat trick against his former team in Calgary. I was watching them last night. Up 2-0. The Hawks came back. 2-2. Winnipeg wins in OT. The Rangers were in the same boat against Chicago.

Tyler Johnson scored his 12th goal last night. The Rangers are reportedly interested in him.

I was reading Scott Wheeler's rankings for the top prospect lists. Some previous first round picks will see their waiver exemption expire this summer. Alex Turcotte. Ville Heinola. Victor Soderstrom. The Kings lost Tobias Bjornfort on waivers this season. Vegas.

The Kings took Turcotte, Bjornfort and Kalliyev in the first 33 picks in 2019. All of them could be gone in the near future. Fagemo was another player taken in the draft that year. People liked him here. Waivers.

Kupari and Villardi went to Winnipeg to the Dubois trade.

All of those kids LA drafted are all gone. Amazing. Grans. Philly. Faber. Minnesota. Byfield will work for them. Clarke should be a top D for them.

Iafallo was taken off of the 4th line last night. Perfetti was moved to the 4th line. Kupari can't get into the lineup.

Would you rather have Faber or Fiala? Faber.

The scouts didnt bring Kane here, Kane brought Kane here.

Not interested in Buchnevich and what he will cost.

I agree with RB, problem with Guentzel is he is a LW. So you would be banking on Kreider or Cuylle to move to RW. Same goes for Pacioretty although the interest there is it is assumed he would come very cheap.

I prefer to stick with true RWers. Detroit is in a playoff spot as it stands today so unlikely they move him as it wouldnt be a great look to the team and fanbase. Unless of course Yzerman just wants to keep collecting draft picks and/or they fall out of a spot over the next 2 weeks.

Out of the scoring type forwards (RW or LW);

Tarasenko, depends on price. Duclair, I love his speed. Anaheim wants too much for their average players. Mangiapane. Zucc. MoJo. Eberle. Mantha. Brock Nelson. Kapanen. Buch unrealistic. Toffoli. Tolvanen. Labanc. Texier. Tuch. Okposo. Gurianov. Beauvilier

Lot of that group requires retention and about half has term of 1-2 more years.

Physical depth forwards:

Clutterbuck, Blais, Sundqvist, Barabanov. Greenway. Trenin. Maroon.

For the center position.

I would bang down the door for Crosby first until Dubas/Crosby say no or the price is outrageous. That team is a sinking ship. Gourde would be my next option. Then Wennberg. Kadri has too many years on his deal. Jenner not likely to be dealt after JDs comments. Kuraly and Sturm would be fall backs. Mittelstadt maybe. Novak.

The point is there are options. Drury will be making something happen. This team has been in the mix the last couple years. They are going to make their push this year.

NO,
he is obv making an immediate positive impact here.

Eff bs prejudice vs his demonstrated value

righty shot RD on sens
approaching elc exit
late 1st 2019 draft

can we do youth for youth currency that works for us?

til later peeps

The guy has more penalties than ice time
He’s not gonna help at 21 in the playoffs
It’s his 1st ELC yr they have 2 more
Not trading him just not playing him in important games yet

I don't want Guentzel because he'll cost way too much, but he is listed as both LW and RW. If he were brought in, it would be to play RW. I don't know why people continue to make such a big deal about wingers switching sides. It's not that hard of an adjustment. Laf did it. Othmann has been doing it in Hartford. Every winger should be able to play both sides.

We need to target someone who will be cheap to acquire and who can have success when put in the right situation. LW/RW, I don't care as long as they are willing to play RW.

What do they have Gabe ranked as?

Of course they have Will Smith featured, Gabo is doing just as much as him if not more this season.

I agree it was a terrible trade but Buchnevich shouldn’t have a personal vendetta over it

Well I was kinda hoping Goodrow would go back the other way to make the cap work.

I never said it was a good trade. I’d also trade 2 firsts for Buch yesterday if that’s all it takes, even if I think he’s a bit overrated. I just find it funny that fate has potentially brought Buch back.

1st + Othmann makes sense for both teams. I wouldn’t do that. Otter can be another Buchnevich for us and he’s 8 years younger.

I know it wasn't great, but damn team we gotta let go of the buch trade. We have a great team and great wings coming up.

This is ultimately how I feel about it. Time to let go.

Define “high draft pick”.
45th pick overall-- Mid 2nd round.

I get the " high draft pick " statement, thinking top 10 pick but the kid does play center which is/has been a position of need for a long time.

If he's available, the Rangers should look at the cost.
