Last thought and i will leave your guys chat room. What about a buchy and hayes. Both retained. That would put you guys over the edge imo. Anyway nice chat have a good day.

I think that would be a great addition but I think you'll find most people are uneasy about trading away the entire farm for this years team which has been up and down.

You're welcome to stick around, always great having other teams fans who can carry on a conversation and bring in ideas

The player that I'd move a first ++ for is Boone Jenner. He's making $3.75M (4.5% of the cap), for this year and 2 more years after this one. He's 30 yrs old and the perfect type player this team needs come playoff time (plays heavy/hard/gritty), not to mention he's captain material (heart/soul).
Now depending on the ++, he's the guy that will give this core it's last push, before it's broken up, if they don't win.
If the ++ is exaggerated, then i'd settle for Sturm/Dowd, at less asset cost.
I would only give Kakko up for Hanifin (resigned).

I like Jenner a lot but Columbus and JD will probably ask for the moon and stars to move their Captain in division with 3 years of control.

Would Marcus Johansson from MIN make sense? He’s a pretty good play driver and only has a 2 x 2MM cap hit. 3rd line, kick Goodrow down to 4th.

The Wild aren’t going anywhere and he could be had for maybe cheap, leaving Drury with more room for a RW.

Couldn’t say do it fast enough
Othmann has a lot of the raw tools and intangibles we lost when trading Buch in the first place minus the moodiness. Plus IDK how much of Buch’s success in STL is Robert Thomas who is light years better than anything the Rangers ice at C.

Buchnevich will never wear a Ranger uniform again and we should be completely fine with that.

His reputation has taken a massive bump based solely on the fact that we made a bad trade when we dealt him. He was as much a perimeter pass first guy as anyone when he was here. I think people remember him being "gritty" because he liked to crosscheck guys after the whistle, or when their backs were turned (not a complaint)

I agree, but you overpay for someone that fits exactly what your looking for, not a similar player to what you already have, that doesn't move the needle (Henrique, for example)

Yup I think the timing is perfect to pay for a guy who can solidify the team through Panarin's contract. 1st+Kakko+another prospect in the Berard/Edstrom/Robertson/Jones tier? Im sure thats close to the ask.

Buch was just as good with Zibanejad as his center. That has nothing to do with it. But it is irrelevant, Drury won’t trade for him.

He was coming into his own and the trade was bad.

He's also wilted the second he gets into any game that has stakes attached to it.

That part changed under berube. He has been a gamer for blues. He really got better. If he was 2-3 years younger i would just want to keep him.

what a disaster of asset management if we trade a first plus 2 good prospects for a little more than a year of Buch. My goodness. I would rather go for Gourde.

He was invisible during their playoff run 2 years ago.

Scored a single goal (pp goal which was literally a rebound that bounced in off his shin pad) and most of his assists were just him handing the puck to someone else and having them do all the work.

Had a grand total of 3 high danger chances 5v5 through out that whole run. Totally in line with what we saw from him in any games that had a shred of importance here. Rangers had a shot at making a bit of a run during the covid shortened 2021 season and they fell flat, he was a big part of that.
