Kakko is not going to be part of a deal that is for futures or rentals, so we're looking at a player that has term to resolve a team issue.

Moving Kakko means that they do need to replace him too, so there would need to be some kind of subsequent trade to get a middle 6 type winger. To me this is the player where you can go with a rental since the team's organizational depth is strongest on the wings. And on top of that rental prices for wingers are not nearly what it is for a center.

Still feel Nashville is the team to make a move with. In the main boards thread on Kakko, a Preds fan mentions Sissons as a piece. 3 years on his deal and the cap hit is under 3M. You wouldn't need retention. He'd fill the 3C void (and could transition to 4C at the end of the deal). The cap going up makes that deal very manageable and it's a constant. You don't know what Kakko will want on a new deal and it's going to be more than Sissons currently makes.

Sissons is what Goodrow was supposed to be, but he's not riding the coattails of players like Blake Coleman and Yanni Gourde. I know others here have suggested Novak, but I don't think the Preds would move the younger player unless they feel they could not sign him. Nashville is also 9th in the West and they've never been the full teardown types.

I have no interest in Zegras but the Kakko hive needs to admit defeat. It's over.

It's all speculation that none of us have control over. It's fun to play armchair GM, I guess.
Speculation is fun.
It's the angst over things that just don't appear to be rooted in anything close to reality that crack me up. It's like something gets mentioned in passing on here and then immediately enters Rangers lore as a hard fact and something to be discussed annoyed about for the next 5 years even though it was never a legit thing.
I'm not active on all that many other message boards, but none of them can take two broad, unrelated rumours and add them together to confirm that 2+2=17 like this place can :)

Kreider jumped out of that pool by himself, ok?! There's video!

I don't even care anymore. As long as zegras takes a hometown discount, I'll swap in the ford escape for a Nissan Miata. It's not that much better of a car but it's cooler.

I’m lukewarm on trading Kakko but if there is a deal out there for a player who contribute now (not a rental) and in the future, I’m listening. KK probably needs.a change of scenery. So do the Rangers.

Drury is doing the right thing. Tell the player you are not shopping him but leak to the media and wait for the phone to ring.

2+2=17…

I am now able to make sense of @RangersFan1994

Kakko‘s QO is 2.4m. If he doesn’t pick it up he’s not getting much more and if he does we’ll be glad we hung onto him. I’m not naysaying a trade I’m just saying clearing Kakko’s cap hit really isn’t consideration in trading him, but how low it will be should be a consideration in keeping him.

look, Strome and Vatrano were fine when they were here because we gave up almost nothing for them and they performed better than expected. to give up real assets for them while they're on stupid contracts would be asinine. i doubt either of them are anywhere near Drury's radar right now.

You guys are seriously wasting all of this time with nonsense. I keep telling you that the answer is right in front of your face. It’s Phil Tomasino.

Stop thinking I work for you and pull the trigger already Drury.
