I don't know if just trading for Lindholm is "going all in", but getting him and Hanifin in one package might as well be. I would expect one of those two to extend with us over the summer, most likely Hanifin.
You missed the big and most important one - add more talent.Chris has had three years to correct the issues. Add more size. Add more grit. Now we read Drury wants to add players with grit and jam in the bottom six. Where has he been the last three years? Chris is the problem. Do you have faith in him making the right moves? I don't. The same issues still exist. He has traded away a million picks with nothing to show for it. The guy traded Buchnevich for Blais and a 2nd round pick. He signs Nemeth and adds two second round picks to move the contract. The cap issues were tough and he made harder. Goodrow is an anchor on the cap. Gave Chytil $4.4375M after giving Trocheck $5.7M. He sandbagged Gorton and JD to take over. He is awful.
The team has a limited amount of money. The Rangers have a fortune on LW and C. They have two RHD making a fortune. The RW is a mess. Lafreniere needed to be moved to RW. The Rangers don't have that much money. Spread out the money. That's on Drury and Ryan Martin. Why are the Chytil and Trocheck contracts counted as bad deals? Both were clearly below market and Chytil having a career altering injury isnt really Drury's fault.
so you would be ok giving him 8 years X 8.5 million likely with a NTC?
Panarin/Trouba/Kreider will all be gone way before that. I'm just not sure if he will age like Bergeron. We can't afford to have two old regressing high paid centers long term.
I don't disagree at all. He's made lots of errors. He should've tried to keep guys like Buch, Vatrano. However, I'm willing to ride the next round of moves only because this current core needs to be rid of, as long as he doesn't give away more farm.
Trocheck deal is a terrific one and that's not hindsight. Most of us knew picking him over Strome/Copp was a great decision especially considering the style of hockey he plays. He ain’t getting that give me a break let’s breathe . What’d Trocheck get? And people complained about that even. Was a steal. People were saying Mika was going to get 10 11 mil. He got 8.5.
Lindholm isn’t getting 8.5 coming off his worst statistical year. But will I pay a center that can play right wing? You bet. I was happy we paid Trocheck. I’ll be happy to pay Lindholm. Centers don’t grow on trees. I hate paying wingers. And I hate paying LEft defensemen. You guys know that.
kinda bored of the gritsters on the team being our worst players every playoffs and this board turning around and saying "yeah that's what we need more of!!!"

This mess is largely Gorton and JD's doing. Drury is also culpable for re-upping Meeka but not finding a way to keep Buch to keep that chemistry alive and then putting out for Goodrow. Still, there was no way of telling that Meeka would crash and as far as Goodrow, he shares a common thing with him called winning a Stanley Cup, thinking he could influence the culture here. The GM is the GM. I dont think Gorton or JD wouldve made significantly better or worse moves. Ultimately the high priced guys that were here before Drury should get the blame. Panarin has been a no show in the playoffs outside of the Game 7 goal against PIT. Meeka and Kreider have been here forever and havent exactly presided over a culture of consistent winning. Trouba was overpaid the minute Gorton signed him. They all have largely underperformed relative to team expectations. Thats who Im going to blame if this season goes belly up and they need to retool.
On the ice in front of all of us when his fat ass put up 3 pts in 20 games and he got thrown around like a rag doll until he got hurt then came back and talked about how he had to work out the whole time he was out
Not true. Trouba's NMC becomes a limited NTC after this year and I don't believe Kreider and Trocheck have iron clad NMC's either but why would you trade either of them anyway. Trouba certainly can be traded this summer but it takes two to tango and that cap hit may be a problem for other teams.I don’t know why any of you are surprised we’re going all in.
Mika
Panarin
Trocheck
Trouba
Kreider
All 30 all locked in long term with No move clauses. We have to win now. These are the guys that have to get it done. We aren’t rebuilding anytime soon. Not until Panarin is finished.
By the way I can see Lindholm extended. Centers don’t grow on trees and hoping Chytil can come back next year is nuts. This guy can play center AND RW. So if Chytil does come back this guy can play on the top line and he actually thrives with top players. I wouldn’t be surprised to see us give up real assets to get him with that being the plan.
So Kakko a first rounder and 2nd rounder (becomes another first in 25 if we win the cup). For either a rental or 6-7 years at 7.5-8 million. Do Ranger Fans do that?
Boston would be able to offer up a first plus Frederic plus Poitras.

I don't watch Lindholm enough but if we are giving him 8 years we better make sure it's not gonna be an anchor of a contract in a few years.
Let's say Even if he takes 7.5 million are we ready to pay our 3C that much money at 30 years old?
We’re maybe the softest team in the league, and definitely the slowestThe Rangers have size.
Grit, you could argue about until you're blue in the face, but objectively, the Rangers are a big team.

I doubt he gets 8 years too he’s not a star player he’s 29 years old drury won’t give up real assets like kakko for him without an extension is my guess
And @RangerBoy the core stinks?
Which guy Kreider? Mika? Panarin? Three guys who prob you could argue will have jerseys hanging from the roof with some of the best numbers in our history? They stink? They’re getting thrown away? Prob not.
Trocheck stinks? No
Fox?
Trouba? We loved troubas first 20 games. He just had a baby can we maybe give the guy a break?
They’re going to try and win.
