Kampfer won't be on the team. He's the AHL vet and nothing more

If they start the season with 8D, it will be

McDonagh-Shattenkirk
Skjei-Smith
Staal-Holden
Bereglazov-DeAngelo

I don't see any way DeAngelo doesn't make this team. He and Bereglazov will very easily push for the last RD spot.

And at this point just get Holden off the team I don't even care what he returns at this point

AV specifically mentioning ADA in a recent presser makes me believe the 3rd pair RD spot is his to lose.

Exactly. I'm confident in Mika being able to handle the increased role. It's Hayes and then the holes that follow him that worry me. Relying on LA is not feasible at the moment until he shows us otherwise. DD isn't that good IMO. Nieves has concussion issues, but hopefully will be healthy and can compete for 4C.

Does Miller move to C? Do you trade someone like Zucc for a C? This is why I wanted to trade Hayes and let Mika/Step flip between 1C and 2C in the upcoming years.

73 2nds and half a 1st for Kopitar and Jari Kurri.

I would be absolutely shocked if DeAngelo doesn't start the season with us. Shocked.
People are going to be surprised at how good this kid is.

Am I the only one that thinks DeAngelo doesn't crack the opening night roster? I really have my doubts that he and AV are going to mesh well enough that AV 'trusts' him defensively...

McDonagh - Shattenkirk
Skjei - Smith
Staal - Bereglazov
Holden - DeAngelo

^ Not saying this is what I want, but this is what I see happening.

I definitely do not think he will for the exact reasons you outlined.

I wouldn't even go for it as an AHL depth signing unless they've ran out of option. Gelinas is absolutely terrible. You don't get cut from the Devils and the Avalanche for nothing. Poor mobility and terrible in the defensive zone. The "big shot" factor is overrated. Young players that are unknowns come into the league with a big shot for half a season before teams start taking away their time and space for a wind up and then the big shot is gone and all there is left is 100 ways of getting exposed and embarrassed in the neutral and defensive zone. Rather a Burns with mobility and being able to get pucks to the net quickly by finding seams. Gelinas would get eaten alive the same way McIlrath did. I don't see how AV would treat it any differently.

I have a sneaking suspicion that ADA is outside the organization or in the AHL by the turn of the calendar.

It me, silverfish, noted pessimist :)

Haha I may be your equal in pessimism. I do wonder if they would have asked for a different piece from AZ if they knew Shattenkirk was a done deal. Oh well, hindsight & all.

We had Richards. People rag on him but he was a no. 1 center. It wasn't until he 2015 playoffs that he was truly in crash-and-burn-mode.

Better example was Christensen, That's when our 010-15 legitimate contention window began. We're a guy who can just manage about 35-40 pts. in a top-six C role away from contending right now.

Richards was not the 1C in 2014. Considering he was bought out after the 2014 season, not sure what his 2015 season in Chicago has to do with it.

He was in crash and burn mode in 2013, the lockout shortened season. He was awful, clearly didn't realize he needed to train harder as he got older.

He rebounded in 2014 and was better, but still not the 1C, he got sheltered minutes at 5v5 and all the PP time. Stepan was the 1C on that team.

Lol ADA and AV is gonna be great fun.

Like McIlrath and Clendending had a kid, who drank 15 beers before the game. AV is gonna love this.

I would trade Zuccarello for a center. It's not an easy fit. Calgary and Edmonton need a RW. Big time need. Sam Bennett and RNH. Is Calgary trading Bennett who is just 21?Do the Rangers want another $6M center in RNH? 4 more years. The Rangers have so many players to re-sign in the next two summers.

I will go out on a limb and say AV will be fired before DeAngelo is traded

I do think the two will have issues though

I think this is wishful thinking by people who never wanted to give the kid a chance to begin with.

I agree with this

Some fans would love nothing more for DeAngelo to be traded already. We've already had articles saying he won't last

Edit: I'm not saying I think silverfish wants DeAngelo gone for the record. Just speaking about other fans I have seen

Parayko signed for 5 years and $5.5M per. Arbitration eligible. Carolina gave Slavin 7 years and $5.3M. He was due to be arbitration eligible next summer. Brady Skjei is arbitration eligible next summer. Those two contracts establish his market. He had 39 points last season. 4 goals and 5 points in the playoffs. The Rangers stole McDonagh at $4.7M for 6 years in 2013.

This seems to be a really lazy shot at me so in response;

I absolutely stand by my statement. I found the Finals to be so uninteresting that I only watched 2 and a 3rd of the games, and have found the two days of the draft (plus the lead up), the Stepan trade, the beginning of FA and the ongoing questions regarding our centre position far more interesting/exciting.

As discussed at the time, it's different strokes for different folks; but just because it doesn't float your boat why get up others about it?

I can understand your viewpoint since we were not in the cup finals. You were more interested in our Ranger team than the Pitt/Nash finals.

There is a poster that only seems to live and breath playing fantasy GM all year round. All he does is 365 days a year is trade threads. I have only seen him in a game thread one time in years so I do not know if he even watches our Rangers play. You are not like that. You actually watch the Ranger games and participate in other Ranger player threads.

Skjei will go from $925,000 to $5M plus. Thankfully it looks like the loonie has finally started to go up. 80 cents today.
