If this was able to fit under the cap, what do you all think:

Kreider-Zibanejad-Lafreniere
Panarin-Malkin-Kravtsov
Blais-Chytil-Kaako
Motte-Goodrow-Hornqvist
Reaves

Miller-Fox
Jones-Trouba
Lindgren-Schneider
Braun

Shesty
Lindgren

Malkin at 3 years for $6m per season
Motte at 4 years at $1.85m per season
Hornqvist at 2 years at $1m per season

I think this would fit…
Yes it works & the team would probably be good..but having to root for that dirty POS would make my skin curl.

Without knowing the return, this is quite the take.
It will cost several assets, and unless miller wants to sign at around 4 years 20 million, the Rangers will be in the exact same position next summer, only with less assets to fix the same problem. So unless they win the cup its a waste.

ZERO desire for Malkin.

Zibs-Malkin-Chytil is not strong enough defensively.... it's more of the same from this past season.

Going into JTM just being a rental, I'll give up Lundkvist and a 1st based on us getting to the Cup ( or winning it )

TDL rental prices.

I'd be watching RO'R with everything I got. Send him smoke signals. Cirielli too.
why would those two teams want to get rid of their best two way centers when they are trying to compete for a cup as well? Even overpayment wouldn't work.

I think 50-50 Othman is gone .

I'm gonna sound like a broken record, but the Rangers might be using Brooks to get the teams who might be willing to take on cap to lower their prices. It was five years ago on draft day that Brooks tweeted the Rangers wouldn't trade Stepan. Might be the same deal with the Rangers are going to buy out Nemeth.
Correction- Brooks uses the Rangers .

Carryon lad

ZERO desire for Malkin.

He’ll grow on you

I mean that’s somewhat true, but Malkin is clearly the more dynamic player to Strome. I truly wonder if Malkin would look at the Russian contingent in NY and be interested. Specifically as a leader.

There’s no denying he lets his emotions get the best of him at times but the other side of that coin is to play with no emotion. The Rangers teams have been lots of the latter for a while.

I also wonder if they see Chytil developing that 2-way game and being used in more of this situations.

It’s really not. It’s common sense. We already know the asking price is high.

We literally can not afford him for more than two years. Are we really going to do the Rongos thing and sacrifice the future for some short term success ?

You wanna go ahead and give guys like Schneider and Othman and Kakko away for 2 years of JT f***ing Miller ?

It’s unforgivable

I absolutely would not part with that, I’m with you. However, 1st+Lundkvist+Berard?

I wouldn’t have said what I said if I thought that’s what it would take. It sounds like the Canucks think JT Miller is Jack Eichel with the asking price

Not sure if someone can explain this...but would it be more convenient to assign Nemeth to the minors? I believe we'd save slightly less on the cap, but long term wouldnt it be more beneficial?

Don’t forget we are the first team to win a cup with Russians 🇷🇺….

Get me Malkin

I grew up on this era and loved watching the masters .

no question Zibs strong on defense.
Chytil, I would consider throwing PK time at him and just let him learn. Buchnevich came out of nowhere and became a phenomenal killer. A lot of players just need a chance.

Cap hits, sent down for the duration:
2022-23: $1.375M
2023-24: $1.375M
2024-25: -
2025-26: -

Cap hits, sent down for 2021-22, bought out after season:
2022-23: $1.375M
2023-24: $166,667
2024-25: $1,666,667
2025-26: -

Cap hits, bought out now:
2022-23: $1.0M
2023-24: -
2024-25: $1.0M
2025-26: $1.0M

I kind of like option 2.

that's his buyout hit.
you can only bury $900k in the minors so he's cap hit for the next two season if we did it that way would be $1.6m each season.
I think I'd be in the 'just get rid of the cap hit as early as possible' camp

EDIt - or better yet go with 31's option 2
