Kadri just scored 90 points and won a Cup. Miller just had a 99 point season. In what way are they has been's? Id argue they are exactly what they need right now. Chytil Kakko & Kravtsov also arent on ELCs anymore, another point people conveniently ignore. Its decision time on all 3.
Highly unlikely the produce the same results on our team with our PP time being perfectly distributed the same way. Those were the perfect fits for VAN and COL. My point is, you're not winning on big FA signings. The value just isn't there. At best you break even for 1-2 years.

We're stuck with Bread, we have to figure it out with him on the books.
And he's by far the most one dimensional player of the big contracts in league atm.

Signing him determined the fate of the "rebuild".

They dont need to produce that much on the Rangers, but the fact that they have the ability to is the main draw. Right now, if Zibanejad goes down for the season, its over. Until we get another center who can fill his role (like every other contender has) we are a step behind.

Ya but that's still in my mind during the flat cap years, raising the floor, not the ceiling. It's a tough call for Drury to go into the season on hopes of improvement but I'd take the risk of betting on the inhouse than the outhouse.

Are you really getting through Colorado by snapping up has beens on the FA market? Colorado sure didn't.

The rangers are not going to be able to go the "Colorado method" unless you want another letter from the front office and a decades worth of mediocrity.

Thats a myth. We are in the first window now and we are close. Why would the organization sacrifice the chance to win it all now, to do so later? Was 5 years out of the playoffs not enough time for this team to marinate?

Does Drury believe in the Chytil's, Kakko's and Kravtsov's of the world? They havent really earned it to this point. He didnt draft any of them, but he's been in the organization long enough to know better than all of us. Im not big on betting our Cup chances on guys who have barely been available on the ice over the past 2 seasons. Chytil is always hurt and was being healthy scratched in the second half of the season. The G6 scratch speaks volumes about where they think Kakko's development is and Kravtsov has his own issues.

The team desperately needs another legit center. I will reiterate that there is 0 in the organization at center coming through the pipeline. Players dont fall off a cliff when they turn 30 years old. And if someone like Mika does, we are f***ed anyway. Hell, Stamkos looked cooked in the bubble and he just scored 102 points at age 34. They need to go for it now. Worry about the 2nd window when you have to. Its more likely to include Mika/Fox/Igor/Laf/KAndre/Schneider/Othmann than Kakko, Chytil or Kravtsov types anyway

Some see the signing of any top player who's over 28 as a return to the days of Niel Smith... I get it that many don't want the NYR to mortgage the away the future, for one-year rentals. I can't see Drury doing that.

Not all contenders have two centers that can fill in as 1C. And even if they had, they won't have them next season: Carolina will lose Trocheck, the AVS will lose Kadri. Minnesota lost Fiala.

Fair enough. The problem is that next year the Rangers need to make hard decisions and will most likely lose players as cap casualties either way. If you can turn some disappointing youngsters into an elite center now, you do it.

Bennett isn’t being moved. The same things that make him attractive to the Rangers — good contract, truculance — make him very attractive to his current employer.

Depends on how much Florida wants to bring back Giroux , Marchment or another player.

I don't think Bennett is getting moved. He's the name being mentioned that I'm intrigued about the most.

Florida is also one of the few spots that is a fit for Lundy.

Kakko used to be cool when he was an incel, now he's just a cringe simp who lusts for the affection of a woman? Trade his goofy ass.

I hope they trade Nemet. you're telling me one of these teams who are 15-20M under the floor won''t take him?

Just wait until that blonde dumps him with a snap.

The teams that have actually won Cups recently have always had 2 centers who can play big minutes in all situations. Pittsburgh. Tampa. Colorado. Washington.

Minnesota and Carolina havent been out of the second round in years.
