Speculation: Roster Building Thread - Off-season Part I

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. According to Kyper, TB told McDonagh if he didn't work with them on a trade they would have placed him on waivers and Columbus was ready to claim him. McDonagh preferred Nashville than Columbus. The Leafs need to bring in Husso, Kuemper or Fleury to replace Campbell. Kuemper wants $6.5M AAV. Too much money for the Avs. He needs to take less to stay in Colorado.

Claude Giroux. The Leafs are interested.

Kadri. According to Kyper, the number starts at $8M. Could go to $10M. Seattle and Boston are interested. Boston needs to know how much Pastrnak wants. Apparently, Arizona is making a pitch for Kadri according to Kyper. Elliotte said Washington if Backstrom is finished playing. Also, Calgary could be interested in Kadri if Johnny hockey leaves. However, Kadri rejected a trade to Calgary when was a Leaf.

Three first round picks for DeBrincat. Two first round picks and top prospect for DeBrincat.

I thought teams can't talk until after the draft.
Also, I thought there was a story that CHI already turned down a package like that. Maybe it was two 1sts and a not-so-top prospect?

20 goals would be outstanding for a rookie not on the top PP unit.

If Kakko, Laf, Kravtsov all hit 20 next season it'll be great for the team's scoring depth. You'd like to see it become a team with three scoring lines rather than two.

We need 2 Centers. Chytil is not an option IMO. If we keep him, it'd be at RW.

Is Copp-Stastny enough as the middle6? Strong and dependable 2way centers to compliment our skill at wing? I think it'd be fine and honestly our best options.... unless a guy like Larkin becomes available.

Panarin Copp Laffy
( Copp and Laffy are the compliments Panarin needs IMO. We saw the difference in Panarin when it was only him and Copp... sadly both got hurt to end the season and Strome killed it )

Kreider Zibs Kravtsov
( Kravtsov a Buch replacement? Ideally Kreider Zibs are split up but I dont see it happening. They haven't been good 5v5 since Zucc was on that line )

Goodrow Stastny Kakko
( strong matchup line? )

Cuylle/Brodz/Blais/Hunt/Rydahl/Reaves
(mishmash of talent on the 4th )

I've been stuck on Chychrun @ 50%. It will cost a lot. Sell high on Chytil. Give Lundkvist an opportunity to start. It might cost another player as well... but a #1-2 goal scoring defensemen entering his prime at $2.3M is waaaaaay too good to pass up. He wants out... we have the assets... GET IT DONE

Big and mobile defensemen have shown why they are needed in the playoffs. We stand to benefit with a talent like Chychrun more than most of us realize

How are you acquiring Chychrun at 50% while keeping Schneider, Lundkvist and whatever else?

I like reading what @duhmetreE writes but man would i love for him to get off the Chychrun band wagon. We have defensemen in spades, more on the way. Chychrun is a want not a need. Not interested in sending the assets we have out for another defensemen when we need a center

If we could have gotten past Pens in 5 it might have made a difference in the TB series....maybe...I think it could have . We need more physical play from Schneider and Miller as they mature and become more experienced at that...plus I think the two could also add some more offense from back there . Their growth and Laf/KK/Ktov /Chytil is certainly going to give us a bump overall . Meanwhile....CK and Panarin and likely Zibs will all fall off a bit .....but I think the next 2 seasons will be good for us Ranger fans overall without sending out more drafts ......it is a patience thing now .

Get one of Miller/Dubois/Scheifele/Larkin like Larry & Staple have mentioned. The team needs a big 2C upgrade to take the next step. They can afford to make a go for it move if it’s out there

K’Andre showed in the playoffs that Chychrun wasn’t a need. If he can add some more offense next year, he’ll be our best player.

Smith may be going to ltir. He had several injuries during the playoffs he played through.

Why would Vegas trade nic roy?

They love him and he's cheap. They need those guys just like we do.
