So many excuses for Kakko. So many varying explanations for why he hasn’t produced.

Why not just keep it simple and agree that he’s just not been good? It’s comforting to put most of the blame on external factors. It’s hard to admit that maybe the player just isn’t very good.

It’s not like 2OA draft picks haven’t completely failed before. It’s nice to think that you’re getting a can’t miss superstar there but it’s not a guarantee. Especially when you’re rooting for this team, for which everything must be maximally difficult at all times.
Some of you are insufferable and are so hurt by the past of the Rangers that everything becomes so negative. Maybe it is possible that those “external factors” are legitimate.

I am expecting a big year from Kakko.

People try coping so hard
Going back and reading off-season threads in 2019 about Kakko is the most sobering thing ever.
Yeah, just as sobering watching Kravtsov kick and scream like a baby multiple times.

At least Kakko shows up and works hard. Plays a responsible game at the NHL level. Haven’t been able to say the same about Kravtsov. But you keep moving goal posts to defend your golden princess. Now it involves putting down other young players on the team.

Want to do a bet on who gets more points this season?

I too am expecting a good season from the 21yo. You see the talent. He missed half the year which didn't help either. I'm hoping he works hard this off season and proves the doubters wrong. The Rangers just don't know what they have in him yet and trading him would be a huge mistake. Just bridge the guy to a reasonable contract and see what he does.

Kakko would be nervous af standing up to Drury lol. Just look at their interactions with other players man you can’t tell me Kakko isn’t one of the most awkward dudes in the league. Kravtsov is very outgoing and confident. Watch you’ll see this season him joking around more with players that he barely knows than Kakko who’s played here 3 seasons

I think Kakko’s confidence issues are a huge reason why he hasn’t met expectations, don’t you think? I may be a little more harsh than some but I see this critique of him a lot

Kravtsov didn’t stand up, he ran home. That’s the most cowardly and juvenile thing he could have done, and he did it TWICE. It was even dumber the second time since all he had to do was stick around for a week and he would have been called up. He can joke around all he wants, the truth is that he has bolted to Russia twice when things haven’t gone his way instead of trying to work through the situation. That’s as “beta”, as you like to say, as it gets and why I think he’ll end up flaming out of the league even though he has the skill set to be a difference maker.

Jesus can any of you articulate an opinion without hyperbolizing? If I wanted to read overblown, speculative assertions without citing any evidence, I’d be on Blueshirt Banter.

Dylan Stromes 11 hits in 69 games @ 17+ mins a night is an impressive commitment to never getting cooties.

I am legitimately impressed at that level of focus and dedication.

So, what do we think Dru is doing today? Watching Chestnut down some dogs while he BBQ’s up some meats with the front office as they read through the Roster Building Thread for ideas?

Listening to the Real Kyper and Bourne podcast. TB had a deal worked with Columbus. McDonagh has a NTC. Not a NMC. According to Kyper, TB told McDonagh if he didn't work with them on a trade they would have placed him on waivers and Columbus was ready to claim him. McDonagh preferred Nashville than Columbus. Tennessee has no state income tax.

Anaheim is interested in trading for Mikheyev. Reportedly.

Elliotte Friedman is a guest. He said other teams and agents feed him nonsense during the start of the off-season.

Jack Campbell to Edmonton or New Jersey. Mike Smith will go on long-term IR this coming season or he will retire. Leafs have not made an offer to Campbell. The Leafs need to bring in Husso, Kuemper or Fleury to replace Campbell. Kuemper wants $6.5M AAV. Too much money for the Avs. He needs to take less to stay in Colorado.

Claude Giroux. The Leafs are interested.

Kadri. According to Kyper, the number starts at $8M. Could go to $10M. Seattle and Boston are interested. Boston needs to know how much Pastrnak wants. Apparently, Arizona is making a pitch for Kadri according to Kyper. Elliotte said Washington if Backstrom is finished playing. Also, Calgary could be interested in Kadri if Johnny hockey leaves. However, Kadri rejected a trade to Calgary when was a Leaf.

Three first round picks for DeBrincat. Two first round picks and top prospect for DeBrincat.

Getting another high priced winger would be akin to the Giants drafting Mathias Kiwanuka in the first round despite already having Umenyiora, Tuck, and Strahan.

Our top 5 players are soft P,K,S, Z and Fox. When the game get dirty and tight they disappear.. never saw them really finish a check in the playoffs..The Kids line doesn’t realized how big they are.. all the hitting is left to really only three guys. (T, L, G,) and the 5 mins the 4th line plays..we need 3 more players in the top 3 lines that finish there hits and win face offs..

well that's the issue with Chytil and Kakko... health. It's always something with them

it's true to some extent. They can't be scared of contact.

Finishing checks and going into areas that will initiate contact, is basic hockey. Kreider pealing off on the forecheck hurts my soul every time
