Is this satire or something it reads like a post you would’ve seen last off-season

Still want Charlie Lindgren as our backup
Interested in this too, but have to think Husso is gone this summer and Lindgren backs up Binnington.

Isn’t Pool Party just a slower even softer version of Gauthier?

Nah, he has many more dimensions than Gauthier has.

Gauthier is the better skater, although Pulju also got great top speed. But Pulju is the much smarter player with the puck. Pulju is also the better finisher and sees the game offensively on a totally different level than Gauthier.

I am far from sold on that we got room for Pulju, with Kravy and all. If anyone goes for Pulju. But I definitely think Pulju would be a good fit for Panarin.

As an aside, I think Drury should sign 2 goalies this offseason. Goalie depth is pretty important and it’s better to have a veteran in the AHL who can split time and get called up to sit if an injury occurs.

I’d be pretty happy if Drury signed Kinkaid and Lindgren and let them battle it out for the backup.

Staple is still upset that he was moved from the Islanders beat into the Rangers beat and he's an Islander fan trying to troll Rangers fans. This is really my fault for those rick carpinello fanfics that forced rick into retirement.
Why would he be upset about going from that shithole franchise to the Rangers. He should see it as a raise.

I could see it.

If he really seems them as close, 2 years may be the perfect window for that type of player.
Yeah. I think the next season, maybe two, are first and foremost on a GMs mind. They have the capologist for the longterm projections and of course they consult. But I think Drury is focused primarily on next season.

You are upset because you don't like the reality that Staple is reporting on. Look inward.

Too many here actually think they are capologists though and worry about the cap 5 years from now. We could all be dead by then.

I am not saying it’s wrong, but I never really understood the reasoning for why Georgiev is done here. How can he get a ton in arbitration?

So many teams are looking for goaltending. If Geo didn’t play awful last season he would fetch a good return.
I think it’s just his contract. And that there is a lot of evidence the rangers and probably some other team feel he’s ready to challenge for a starting role. I don’t think the other nonsense - the fight and the perceived attitude issues - is a factor though.

I’m almost expecting him to just go to ufa
I think this is more likely than him coming back to the rangers. I would think they find a home for him first tho. I’m sure there have been talks for months and even years on him. The terrain is well mapped I would think.

I read articles like the Staple one and I genuinely wonder if the Rangers are trying to shorten their window. I hope that info was misdirection type stuff because those trades are fireable on the spot type offenses.
Drury’s focus is the next 2 years. If it’s unclear if you’re going to make the team explicitly better in the next two season, you’re available for someone who will be

It would have been awesome if they could have put it together this year.

Like Kreider’s never going to score that many again, it only goes down from here.

Pulju would be a great addition, and we have danced around talks with EDM before

RFA status, 2 more years till UFA, coming off of 2 years and 1.175 per year

36 pts in 65 games last year; 19 of 22 assists even strength and 10 of 14 goals even strength, played 16 minutes a night, good possession metrics in back to back years

Bet we could sign him to something 2 years, ~2 per, or 3 years 2.5 per

EDM has been linked to Georgiev previously, they also want to move out some cap, rumors about Nurse being moved, could they use some close to ready to play D? Robertson + Georgiev? It's an idea

With the new cross checking rules being enforced in the regular season at least for net front presence I could see Kreider still getting ~35 for the next 2+ years with this powerplay unit and his net front ability

What does Puljujaarvi cost? Georgiev + for Puljujaarvi? The times I saw him this season, I thought he looked pretty good at both ends of the ice. Bring in another Finn for Kaako. Adds size and strength up front

Edmonton I think isn’t going to be where Georgiev lands. Or if he goes there, it will be as half of a 1A/1B tandem. Edmonton can’t afford to be too creative with their goaltending any longer. They have kicked that can down. The road for way too long.

Why? Did they screw up the TDL that I am unaware of?
The TDL was a gimme. Drury had holes to fill and a LOT of ammo, which he used up a fair chunk of. Most of us could and would have made similar moves. The board talked about Copp as a good fit months before the TDL. Gallant wanted more speed etc.

Now last summer is another matter. The mandate was clear. Find a new coach and get grittier. But the execution was odd.

Buch/Blais (still not sold he'll ever overcome the injury bug) was a weird trade, Nemeth (horror contract), Tinordi (why?), Kravtsov (Wtf ???!). Hunt was ok. McKegg huh?

Then he got Copp, Motte and Vatrano at the TDL. Well, ok. Good solid players. Copp turned out expensive-ish. Vatrano did a job. Motte was unfortunately injured but clearly strengthened the bottom 6.

We'll see what happens now that Drury has less room for mistakes and a bit of pressure since the window is open. So since he's been hit and miss I'm waiting to see if he'll hit or miss now that the stakes are higher, the margins tighter and the consequences more important. So far I haven't seen much to indicate a master mind at work... so we'll see how it goes.

I think that the capologist kind of gives a green, yellow, or red signal on any deal or proposed move. Like, ‘that’s impossible’, ‘that’s ok but we’ll have to juggle’, or it’s a deal that’s cap-net-negative in which case it’s a green light. I figure they mostly operate in yellow tho.

That’s my thought as well. Physically he understands puck protection. I think it’s a matter of fitting in with the right guys.
I agree. Pulju had the best corsi on the Oilers last season. He was really good until he got injured in February. Then he had a weird spring and playoffs. For me the main worry is injures, how are those hips doing? He wasn't moving well in the playoffs. Seems like there's toxicity in the Edm room (not the first time) so he wants the hell out now.

Chytil + Kakko + Nemeth for PLD + 30th overall
PLD for 6 years, 7 per year

Georgiev + Kravstov for Puljujarvi

Reaves to the AHL or maybe a team gives a 4th or 5th for him for the same reason the Rangers traded for him last year

Kreider Zib Laf
Panarin PLD Puljujarvi
Othmann Goodrow Blais
Motte Rydahl Chiasson
Hunt

He's 22 years old. To but a ceiling of 3c on him right now is down right idiotic. Could he get better, absolutely, will he.......time will tell, but I for one would bank on him getting better and better over the next 3 years. I wouldn't cut bait on him just yet. Especially with this organization being very thin on centers

He doesn't nor never has had the tool box to be a top 6 center on a winning team. His vision is limited, his hockey iq is average at best. Everyone is ignoring the obvious with him because we have no young centers. There's nothing wrong with him being a 3c, people just have to open their eyes to see what he really is. Gallant pretty much nailed it on the head, he's Lars Eller.

RIght but he did have that quality level of play in the playoffs. He played 10+ games at a high level of play, in the toughest environment where most players play worse not better.
You cant just ignore that performance because it doesn't fit the narrative.
I'm not, I'm taking it as a sample size while also considering the body of work as a whole.
