We should be going for it in a weakened Metro Division while we are able to keep this team together. No matter what, the Rangers will lose core pieces due to the salary cap in 2023 & 2024. I have no interest in Malkin or Kadri but they need more veteran help, not less.
I'd say they need center help and will need it going forward whether they sign a vet C or trade for a young one.

We have ??? other than Zbad on the squad and nada in the pipe.

Interesting tidbit…heard that the Seattle locker room wasn’t a very happy place last year and Hakstol may not have a long rope next year. Ownership very concerned. Roster changes coming this summer.
They should have just gassed him this summer with the lineup of available coaches.

I still can't believe Colorado won the cup.

Kadri and Nichuskin were major cogs in their success. Their top guys are all-world and perform and they had strong depth production.

I don't think Colorado wins without Kadri. The team crumbled without him last year.

with that said... get me a Kadri or Ryan O'Reilly. I don't want Strome. Copp could be a poor mans version of that. I'm suspect of PLD. He has massive potential but his attitude is a major concern. Maybe it's a process of growing up? I could see him flourshing under Gallant.

Panarin -Kadri/RO'R/Copp/PLD - Laffy
Colorado won the cup rather easily in the end (superior tactics). I thought they fixed the issues from the previous year's run when they lost to the Knights admirably. MacK and Kadri weren't loose cannons trying to win it all by themselves, they played a team game also under pressure. Nikushkin (before his injury) and Lehkonen were huge as complements to MacK, Landeskog and Rantanen, and the puck moving D made mince meat out of the opposition.

Faber is a Minnesota kid, currently playing at U. of Minnesota entering his Junior year. 20 year old RHD. Was a 2nd rounder by LA in 2020.

Kid must be thrilled.

He wants one under the age of 23 and on an ELC. Easier said than done.

Florida may have to use Lundell to get out of Bobrovsky's contract.

I’ll take Bobrovsky off Florida’s hands for Lundell, then buy out Bobrosvky. Pay for it by letting go Strome and Copp.

Anaheim needs some experience on D. Verbeek was part of the front office which signed Nemeth a few years ago to a two year contract worth $6M. Maybe Verbeek doesn't view it as a bad contract. Does Verbeek want to trade a younger asset or sign a player in free agency? Nemeth has two remaining at a $2.5M cap hit.

Nemeth has had an incredibly bumpy ride since he signed a 2 year deal with detroit 3 years ago. If Verbeek is a sucker and will take on the contract then sure lets dump it on them.

Unless we can manage to find a 3rd rounder somehow. It's gonna cost one of our 2nds to dump nemeth's contract

Sign the following UFAs:
Alex Nylander (if not qualified)
Dennis Malgin
Karson Kuhlman (if not qualified)
Rocco Grimaldi
Vinnie Hinostroza
Lucas Wallmark
Always liked his game. Feel like he could be Blackwell 2.0. Another would be Aube-Kubel if Colorado is looking to shave any projected amount of money they would need to commit to players to retain as many impact pieces as they can.

Probably wouldn't be non-tendered, but Morgan Geekie could be another target as a young center that could be available. Seattle has Gourde, McCann, Wennberg, and Beniers. If they sign another center, you're looking at Geekie being #6 on the depth chart, probably #5 with McCann playing wing. If they are spending big, they've got a few guys that are RFAs that won't cost a lot that they would lose for nothing since they are no longer waiver eligible.

Someone that was in that Trocheck trade between Florida and Carolina was Luostarinen. Another team that will be up against it in terms of money. Big bodied center, just has not been good on draws, which means he'd fit right in.

Need to find the type of players that will fit in with the bottom of the lineup needed to win. Tampa and Colorado had guys that could skate. That O'Connor-Helm-Cogliano line was a nightmare forechecking and was able to get out of their zone well. All three can fly. Need to find a line that could be like that. Helm and Cogliano are UFAs. Would not be opposed to try and sign one of them for the 4th line.

It’s not the thought of trading Kakko. It’s trading Kakko for PLD that I hate.
Can you elaborate on why? The only reason I can get behind is salary.

PLD is only 2.5 years older than KK. He plays a more important position and is better that KK in basically every aspect of the game.

I am scared off by the cap implications myself but if PLD can be had for KK plus Lundkvist color me very interested.

Fiala went for a mid to late 1st round pick and a quality defenseman prospect. You would have thought Fiala would have brought back more. The Devils pick at #2. Ottawa's pick at #7. Looking at Fiala brought back in a trade, the market wasn't good for him. Will it be good for the other teams trying to trade players? Fiala was one season away from group III. LA signed him to an 7 year deal. How much more is Miller or Dubois worth? Miller's best position is the wing. He can play in the middle. It's not his best spot.

If the Rangers are willing to help a team that has cap issues and say if they miss on PLD (but I feel he will be a Ranger before training camp) how about Alex Killorn? 4.5 cap hit UFA next summer? Not sure what his value is.

Killorn has always been an underrated player.

This deal can't happen without an agreed upon long term extension for PLD. That's first base.
Not really. You can acquire PLD with the plan of keeping him here just for his next contract and then letting him move on when he hits UFA. Not every player acquired needs to be looked at as a long term piece.

The next 3 seasons with Shesty on his current contracts needs to be looked at as a contending window.
