Some contract projections.

Andrew Copp

How much money and term is Copp looking for?

JT Miller

Hendrix Lapierre is the 2020 first round pick.

The Caps don't have many assets.

Someone is giving nearly Vatrano $16M? In this economy?

4 x 5.8 is unnecessarily high

5-6years x $5ish M is fair for both parties.

IMO we need Copp. He makes us a much better team.

Puljujarvi will always fall short when judged in the eyes of being third overall. He’s most likely a role player. His draft position will always carry the cache of being much more.

Yes, some interest but no high expectations. Plenty of other teams probably see the same things.

If you are replacing strome w Colin white you are not making a move to make this team better. White is a significant downgrade from strome in a position that we are already weak at.

I HATE strome, but I think too many people are just taking for granted his worth here the last couple years.
i am not in a hurry to commit another big chunk of Cap,
just cuz its off-season after a good playoff run

Give Turk some guys to work with,
give Chytil a shot to take the next step,
and wait for the right opportunity

next spring is a ways away
the need to replace Bread's C is real,
but the July contract frenzy is too-often painful overpayment in Hit and term

Miller most plays on the left wall on the PP in Van. With the Rangers there are two players who would play there ahead of him and with the personnel the Rangers have it wouldn't make sense to play him on the left wall or the bumper. So that would force them to play him on the right wall and force Zibanejad back to the bumper. He wouldn't be running the PP here. I don''t like the fit.
He actually played the left point, not the left wall. Petterson is the shooter on that PP.

Sometimes I think you are just trying to be a comedy act. You've used that OT reference about 30 times now on this board....If that even happened, big deal. Players f*ck up sometimes. I watched the Canucks 2-3x a week this season, so don't tell me Miller is still a bozo or still the same player he was in NY. He's not...at all. Miller outclasses Strome in every single category & has matured into a top player in this league. He's not better at wing as some are trying to say....he was in the top 30 in faceoffs won in the NHL this season, he runs the Vancouver PP & even killed penalties. He played with several combos of different wingers & they all played better when they were on his line. Boeser was basically non existant away from Miller as was Tanner Pearson.

I get some people don't want to give up big assets for a guy we probably can't afford to keep after next season, but this myth that he will revert to his immature ways or isn't an elite player needs to end.
Search their GDT's for the word bozo you will see Canucks fans complain about the guy a lot despite his production. He still makes bonehead plays, hell, we have half our board complaining about Panarin calling him a liability. If they hate on Panarin, they'll bring out pitchforks for Miller with all the brain farts he has.

And I wouldn't be too sure of him not reverting to his immature self if he came back to NYC. Vancouver notoriously has the worst nightlife of any major global city, it is boring as hell with no entertainment, everything closes early, and most "fun" things to do in Vancouver revolve around nature, hiking, skiing; largely athletic things. NYC is a VERY different place to be as a 29yo multi-millionaire professional athlete. He's also butted heads a lot in the Vancouver locker-room and has been called a cancer there too.

He actually played the left point, not the left wall. Him back there with Fox would be dynamic.
The lines are kinda blurry between the new PP setup positions, but I would call it left wall. Would sometimes receive the puck high and then carry down like Panarin does on the opposite side.

Canucks fans are clowns...so are their fanboy beatwriters, especially Drance. What they say means nothing to me as do all those bullshit rumors about him being drunk before games & whatever else you made up about Funyons etc.

As I said, you don't need to be on board with reacquiring him, or paying the price to keep him etc. I'm not sure I'm on board with that either. But this nonsense that he hasn't turned his career around is complete horseshlt. You know your hockey, but when it comes to a few players like JTM, Krav, & Tuba, it's IMPOSSIBLE to read your posts seriously, because you cannot be objective about them. I'm like that with Cindy Crosby, so I get where you're coming from, but doesn't make it reality.

Stop confusing me.

Are you sure the being drunk before games thing was fake? I thought I remembered it confirmed by trusted sources and there were pictures of someone running into him getting drunk at a bar before a playoff game? Lmao

Every hockey fan has certain players they love & hate, an example would be Uninstaaled with Nils Lundkvist 😂 or SnowblindNYR with every goalie ever. Nobody is a completely objective observer of hockey, I'm sure some guys hate Matthews just because of his stupid moustache. I admit I speak in hyperbole often times (not about Kravtsov though, he is the real deal) and am very eccentric. Regardless though we both seem to agree, bringing back Bozo is not the move.

dying of boredom. Draft is still 2 days away and i'm not even really interested in the draft this year. A whole week until Free agency starts ugghhhh

I getcha
U wanna trade Panarin for Miller
👍
😋
In all seriousness tho
The miller mcd trade has to be one of the most lopsided trades in team history
To bring him back now just isnt the right move
He never should have been included in that deal
Cant right the wrong by giving up assets now

Good thing we’ve already got one of those, but at second overall.

It's been quiet the last couple of days. I seem to remember that the pre draft days used to be busier.

No it's not. He wasn't a top 10 offensive player during the regular season.
Top 10 offensive center in the reg season? 81pts in 81 games?

I don't disagree, but I also have no interest in trying to buy 3rd tier guys and think we will have a new Erik Christiansen

I think the whole narrative that Miller has “matured as a player” is completely media / fan fabricated. He still makes the same absolutely horrendous turnovers. I was watching a game in Feb they blew against the Flames in OT. Miller made one of the worst turnovers, trying to dangle 1 on 2 in 3-on-3 OT that led to the GWG.

He is a great 5v5 producer. He was that with the NYR. With Vancouver he gets more TOI and a prime PP role and his headline numbers improve. That’s basically the entire story behind his “breakout.”

Edit here it is…at the 7 min mark. Actually 1 on 3. Can’t tell me this board wouldn’t be apoplectic.

No he wasn't.

For all centers with 500 minutes:
5v5 P/60: 33rd
5v5 relxGF/60: 36th
5v5 relCF/60: 56th
Raw point totals: 11th
all situations oWAR/60: 22nd
all situations P/60: 17th

you can dispute the numbers if you want but he wasn't by any metric top 10.
