I’d think it’s just let’s see where everyone is, start with the kids together since they ended strong and that should give a quick direct comparison or where they are after the offseason.

With that decided, Krav with Panarin makes sense since Trochek is more the straight line guy that used to be what they looked for in RWs for that line when Strome was there. Panarin works well with another mostly offense oriented guy on his line along with a straight line player.

Krav and Panarin is going to be a combo that gets like a look for one game and then is never heard from again.

Like if you were going to keep the kid line together, it makes the most sense to flip him and Blais.

By putting Blais and Kravtsov in the top six and keeping the Kid Line together, Gallant is trying create a deep lineup. Three lines that can score. No more third line of spare parts.

He is and I am fine with that, but I don't think the kid line is a good combination together. Guess we will see.

Can't WAIT to see Kakko BLASTING his massive slapshot again this season.....

edit - so they definitely completely made his ratings on that summer video that went around with him taking that 108 MPH slapshot.

This is surprising to me, EA is known for their thoroughness and attention to detail. They never just make up ratings out of thin air.

If they're letting one instagram video determine ratings, just wait until they let the Kravtsov memes determine his

Eh I don’t think Panarin with Trochek and Blais gives him what he works best with.

You give him a couple of diggers and guys who open up space for him to do his thing.

Kravtsov will just give him another guy who gets too cute and will inevitably turn the puck over. One of those on that line is enough.

yeah what the actual f***? They really don't watch much of the sport at all huh? Even someone who's more casual would probably put Zibanejad or Trouba where Kakko is placed just based off an eye-test watching some NYR highlights.

I miss when NHL games got made by actual Hockey nerds

I bought NHL 20 and it had Kreider as the same skating speed as Lindgren. That's how much of an effort they make.

No issue with the preliminary line combos. Blais was playing with Kreider & Mika when he got injured and never really got a chance to get his feet under him. Very deep top 9.

They are going to trade Kakko, duh.

One of the two of them is going to be gone sooner rather than later. And it's not out of the question that it's both.

Youve been saying this for 4 years now. I guess eventually you'll be right

Bill Daly discussed the salary cap. The summer of 2024 is the when the cap will be tied to revenue. One more season with a $1M increase in 2023. The players paid back a good portion of the escrow balance last season. The NHL exceeded their revenue projections for last season.

But I think they can address both at the deadline. Kane and a depth Veteran D. What is the veteran D costing? A 3rd? A 4th? 3rd and a B prospect that nets us a guy who is a borderline top 4 DMan? The Rangers have the flexibility to make these things happen.

With Kane, sure there is a risk with the age but he has yet to show some sharp decline. His shooting % was down and yet he was only 2 goals off his career yearly average. Even if he dropped to a 75-85 point pace next season that would still be outstanding production. And I do believe that even with a bump in production from the kids, a 75-85 point pace from Kane will be more than what Lafreniere/Kakko/Kravtsov will be on pace for next to Panarin-Trochek. There is no denying the kids were hugely impactful in the playoffs and they can continue to be even with Kane slotting in at RW2.
Cap space.

They are but they...aren't. Like, I dunno, I guess it's perhaps consistency. If they roll their top 3 lines well then it's kinda fine but that lines strikes me a bit as "good when they can play downhill but bad when they're back on their heals" but on the other hand I kinda get the idea as well in a "you guys were all good together do it again, I liked what I saw" kind of thing.

I think the Rangers really do like what they see Blais' potential to be but I don't think he lasts long on the top line. He'll look like a world beater in preseason, fade after a few games of regular season, then get hurt

He has slick hands, he could provide a real edge to that line and maybe a bit of finishing but...I see this as a "see what he can do" rather than a " likely a long term line"

Big opportunity for Kravtsov though. I think the one thing would be a coaches worry about defensive responsibility with him and Panarin but Strome was no defensive dynamo either.

They also have Fox as the 3rd fastest defenseman.

EA is proof that monopolies are bad and competition is good...
