They also have Fox as the 3rd fastest defenseman.
EA is proof that monopolies are bad and competition is good...
They had Panarin as one of the fastest LW.
Kreider wasn’t even in the top 10.

Finished listening to Gallants presser and my two and a half cents:
• As I suspected, Trocheck will fill Stromes spots, including PP1. Seemed very matter of fact about it and that’s the way it will be, at least to start the year.
• Laffy on left wing. Kid line stays together.
• Blais on the top line with Mika and Kreids. I get the impression that Gallant sees a little of himself in Blais.
• Goodrow is still recovering from the foot injury he sustained in the playoffs, will not play in scrimmages.
• He is happy with Kravstov’s attitude and he’s got an opportunity to play with Panarin and Trocheck to start camp, at the very least.
• They’ll be a competition for the 6th and 7th D spot. No surprise there.
• Carpenter is going to play. He’s here to kill penalties and play 4th line center. Trocheck will be a big PK and a d zone start center as well. Those two might even be a pair SH. Both are reasons they didn’t want to overextend for Motte.

Yes because these are going to be the likes to start the season. I know, you know it.So we are complaining about line combos on the first day of training cap?
No I don't know it and nobody knows how things will work out when they get on the ice. It is amusing though how Gallant trolls this board though.Fire Gallant now

Gallant made it seem like they are just being extra cautious and he just won't play in scrimmages.Well that is pretty terrible news.
Cap relief is coming then.Goodrow is going to be LTIR material
Really soon.
Today’s Media Availability. Head Coach Gerard Gallant and some Rookie Camp pump piece.
No problem. Just get healthy in time for playoffs. As Tampa has done for multiple years.Goodrow is going to be LTIR material
Really soon.
If that kid line stays together it will get a good amount of minutes. Some nights it might perform as the 1st or 2nd line in terms of TOI.For what its worth... I'd like to see the young dudes get more minutes, but keeping that kid like together.. if they can build off what they had going in the playoffs can be a huge mismatch against bottom pairings
This is my expectation. This isn’t ‘the year’. It may be. But I can say with confidence that last year the boys rode a wave. My par for this year is losing in the second round. It also has the potential to be a disappointing year.
In 2014 we rode a relatively mediocre regular season to the SCF, and came out the next year with a much improved RS, even with a roster that was perhaps slightly weaker after the departure of Pouliot, Richards, Boyle, and the replacement of Stralman with Dan Boyle.
The team knew it was good and was gunning for a cup, and the performance the next year was a Presidents trophy. I genuinely think part of that improvement came from the previous year's run and the team understanding that the expectation should be to win each game and gun for a cup.
We talked a lot about how last season the metrics of this team were terrible at even strength. The only reason we even made the playoffs with time to spare was the power play and one of the best single seasons by a goaltender in the last 20 years.
Our expectation should be a team that isn't losing the battle at even strength most nights this season. We will see if we have a better performance or if the team stagnates like it did in 2012-2013. If it does the latter, you're going to see a lot of "Trade Panarin/Kreider/Zibby" threads as people consider whether the roster we have built is really good enough to win 16 games in the playoffs.
Goodrow is going to be LTIR material

Also, I mean, the balls on Drury to get a top 10 protected 1st and still ask for another pick and here are the conditions for improving that pick. No doubt other teams were hot on him as well.
I wish our coach had this kind of sound, sane, logical reasoning. But last year it was Kreider down low, Zibanejad at the one timer spot, Fox running the show, and Panarin and Strome, and that PP was lethal.
Why is there some need to add another down low guy or another face off guy, etc? The PP1 was great with Strome being a non-factor.
Lafreniere will be an upgrade over Strome at that PP1 spot because he's more skilled and it will help his long term offensive development which is critical for us.
Trochek can win faceoffs but other than that he'll play similarly to Kreider. I don't see how he helps PP1 or the team long term, other than the coach "trusting" the veteran not to have the mistakes and growing pains associated with a young player.
All of it is the complete opposite of what he should be doing.Finished listening to Gallants presser and my two and a half cents:

Carpenter is a completely useless past toy of his. The 4th line could be comprised of Blais, Goodrow, and Cuylle. Instead we will get Reaves and Carpenter. Useless 4th line.
"He sees himself in Blais" is the exact reason Lafreniere is buried on the 4th line. The guy has a personal vendetta against the kid because he's far more gifted than Gallant ever was.
Trocheck on PP1 instead of Lafreniere is brain dead stupidity.
Laf is going to score 30 points again and people are going to call him a bust. But it'll be because he once again was denied any progression by this moron coach. I don't think any 1st overall pick has been handled this way in the last several decades. Absolute stupidity.
So Gallants thinking;
Kreider-Zibanejad-Blais
Panarin-Trocheck-Kravtsov
Lafreniere-Chytil-Kakko
Goodrow-Carpenter-Reaves/Hunt
We’d all rather see Laf or Kakko at that 1RW spot. But I won’t lie, Blais could open up a lot of ice for CK and Zibby, and win those battles down low. I really liked everything about his game before he got Subban’d. This move also keeps the kid line together.
Chytil in the playoffs seemed to take the shooters role. He kept finding seams for passes and quick shots. If he plays that way again he absolutely helps his wingers out because they’ll control possession on their own.My 2 cents, Kravy makes more sense with Kreider-Mika and Blais with Pan-Tro.
Obviously this is not a knock on Kakko and Laf, as much as a challenge for them to move their entire line up a notch in the pecking order.
But from my POV, to do so they must carry Chytil who haven’t helped his wingers in any way, shape or form since joining the NHL. That is a big ask. I much more like the prospects of these three lines each reaching the required performance:
Kreider-Ziba-Kravy
Pan-Chytil-Blais
Laf-Tro-Kakko.
