While I understand that on the surface, 5v5 time doesn't look high for any 1 player, you need to look at our top 6 F and top 4 D unit breakdown to see how unique the Rangers have their ice-time allocated. The Rangers had one forward in the top 50 in 5v5 TOI/game in the league and two in the top hundred. I don't know why this narrative persists.
If you want to look at all strengths they had two in the top 50 and four in the top 150.
Colorado's top line ranked 6,9,17 in 5v5 TOI/game. How come they didn't get burned out? And they had two more in the top 100.
Z: Even1, PP1, PK1
Kreider: Even1, PP1, PK1
Panarin: Even1B, PP1
Trocheck: Even1B, PP2?, PK2
Laf: Even1, PP1?
Kakko: Even1B, PP2, PK2/3?
Fox: Even1, PP1, PK1
Lindgren: Even1, PK1
Miller: Even2, PK2
Trouba: Even2, PP2?, PK2
That is almost every player playing in all situations. Some of those minutes, such as PP2 for Trouba, and PK for Fox, would benefit the team if it were successfully moved down the lineup. The Rangers are a unique team where their top players are not just top offensive players, but are top all situations players. I think this could lead to some burnout/injuries if the team cant allocate some of that time elsewhere.
