Kakko is off limits. He has been our best forward 5 on 5. Laf-maybe 2 7th round conditional picks? haha

Hahah great to hear that Kakko is having a strong start to the season! I still think he could be a stud.

In all seriousness with Laf, is he someone who the Rangers would consider moving and if so for what?

not really a fan. Kakko and Panarin both need the puck.
I’ve always advocated for Panarin & Mika together, and I’m glad Krav is on a decent line. But yea if I were running things I’d stack the top line and put the kid line back together but promote them to line 2, demote Kreider to a checking role and PP specialist.

Panarin - Zibanejad - Kravtsov
Lafreniere - Chytil - Kakko
Kreider - Trocheck - Vesey
Blais - Goodrow - Reaves

I'm not a big fan of stacking the top line by adding Panarin. One of Panarin's super powers and the reason he's so valuable is he's one of the extremely few players in the NHL where you can roll him out with pretty much anyone and at the end of the season he's always going to have amazing numbers. It seems a waste putting him on that line when he probably does just as well or marginally worse playing with guys like Trocheck, Kreider, Vesey, Kravtsov, Blais etc. anyway.

I like Chytil/Kravtsov but would prefer Laf on that LW. I also hope they get actual second line minutes because that's what's really going to determine the line rankings here where I could easily see the "third line" getting more minutes than the second.

I think it will challenge Kakko to adapt to his line-mates and use them more. Holding onto the puck for so long in the O zone was often justifiable for him in the past month or so. But if Panarin is on the ice Kakko has got to get rid of the puck quicker. It will be an experiment for sure

Too early IMO. He showed he can be an impact player in the playoffs last season. Plus, Kakko has an extra year on him and only established himself this season so I think Laf gets all of this season and probably some of next before the Rangers think about moving him.

Our Soft Zone-Man defense is bad. Horrible net front defense.
Our Neutral Zone play is bad. We give up all the space, back to our dots.
Our Backchecking is bad.
Our Transition is bad. There is no transition unless Fox or Panarin carry it up.
Our Offensive gameplan is bad. Circles on the perimeter until turnover.
We can't pass or shoot. Shoot into the shin pads of the defender or logo snipe. Passing... can't make them consecutive/cleanly without bumbling and fumbling the puck.

Besides that, we're doing good.

No and definitely not for anything that would be considered fair from the other side.

They're not trading the first and only 1st overall pick this franchise has ever had while he's still on his ELC.

Feelin' good on a Wednesday
Gallant demoting Kreider was a step in the right direction... that he pretty much un did by throwing him out there to start OT.

If you want to send a message to this group, scratch him for tomorrow's game. Not only will it probably get Kreider going, it sends a message that no one is safe and that this level of play won't be tolerated.
He did the same thing in the OT vs COL

Kreider was brutal the whole game and he kept trotting him out there in OT when he should've just sent him to the locker room and told him to hit the showers because there was no way he was going to see ANY ice for the rest of the night

Oh God what is he doing.

These lines will change after two periods, max.

Panarin and Kakko are both possession monsters. They need to be on separate lines.

Kreider needs to drop to the third line until he gets back into the form he was a majority of last season.

I like the middle of the ice. Thats the strongest 1-4, although Trocheck and Chytil should probably flip.

I like this line of thinking, except I'd go a step further. I'd reunite the Kid Line and make them the #1 line for a game and see how it goes. Let Zibby force his way into the spot between Kakko and Laf.

If you're going to send a message to the vets that they need to get their asses in gear, then send the f*cking message.

yeah i'd be way into this too but it will never happen in a million years unfortunately

edit: holy shit those new lines are gonna get Gallant fired

That's not going to help us score more at ES, which is our biggest issue.
He will 100% help us score more.

Our transition is bad and our defenseman, besides Fox have contributed little to nothing. Modern Day hockey has a defenseman jump in as a '4th forward'.

He'd be a much needed help in many areas.

Yeah there's no way they'd trade one of their two bargain top 6 forwards let alone their highest draft picks ever. Especially not while they have a middling record.
