3.6 mill and he's legit not good at anything. players do what he does for less than 1 mill. his calling card was his versatility but that just means he sucks the same at all three forward spots

What in our entire tortured history led anyone to believe that signing a "grit and glue guy" off a contender for big money was a solution for this franchise?

The past two decades plus for us, is littered with failures of this type of thing.

You know what has tended to work for us? Signing Panarin, signing Gaborik, trading for Nash. Drafting and developing Kreider, JT Miller, Derek Stepan. Trading for Zibanejad.

But the man in charge can't break his addiction to a type of hockey that didn't even work when HE was winning Cups. He seems to have forgot he won again and again with the best goal scorer and point compiler ever.

I bag on Trouba but at least he's a solid second pair defender. Goodrow should be first on the chopping block the second we need a dollar of cap space.

It’ll be about whatever futures the Rangers want to add but basically you could do Hajek (or someone with a similar contract to Hajek) with picks/prospects and Seattle just retains the rest. Hajek (in this example) is just cap filler anyway.

never said I wanted to sign Georgiev. Just said people thought Halek was going to be way better than him. If we signed someone else for a million less than Halek we would still get same results. halak is terrible.

Georgiev was negative for expected goals against last year. He’s also making more than $3M. Halak is a proven veteran backup who has shown in the past that he’s capable. You may end up being right, but It’s October 24.

Not necessarily.

He could miss half the season but if he's healthy and dominant for the playoffs that is what you need. The issue is that you don't want a guy making huge money who is never available for the regular season because the big money guys have to get you THROUGH the regular season and into playoff position.

When you stack your forward talent at wing and have nothing (say it again, nothing) in terms of center depth down the organizational chart, this is what you get.
