It's not difficult to make smart decisions around the fringes. We just choose not to.

There's no "we" here. It's everyone. Plenty of players who could be useful were waived yesterday. None of any value were claimed.

especially since if you're going for a conservative "just keep it alive" set-up for that unit, trouba is the worst d-man you can play there since he's so slow.

Tinordi was fine, Rangers had a vet D who cost them basically nothing against the cap and played in the AHL for most of the time.

Considering the Rangers are still carrying the buyout cap hits of Shattenkirk, Girardi, DeAngelo, his signing made way more sense than several of their other choices.

I don't think Gauthier is going to make it to Hartford. I'm expecting a player for player trade similar to the Kostin deal shortly.

Also, the Rangers now need to find a depth d-man somewhere and not slowly either. They are 2 injuries from playing Robertson on defense who looked not so great in pre-season. Losing Lundkvist and Tinordi hurts their depth quite a bit.

Tinordi stinks. Being forced to replace him will help us.

half those guys are on ELCs lol, the others are on 1 or 2 year deals. So no, i don't think those are bargain contracts.

We have "fair" contracts like Fox, Zibanejad, Kreider, Lindgren, even Panarin (pre pandemic) and we have bad contracts like Trouba, Reaves, Goodrow. Shesty is on a good contract AAV wise but its too short, we're going to be f***ed once it expires.
