The team won 6 of 8 without Panarin before that
just underscores how much this franchise has been relying on elite goaltending, and this is something going on almost 2 decades now. need elite goaltending bc their is no structure to the squad. The elite offensive talent coves other messes at times, but none of it matters without the goaltending.

I was, and still am all for them rebuilding, and continuing to even if it means seeing them not be very good. Not good and improving in some way, fine. Bad and doing the same stuff that does not work over and over again, I find annoying.

we’re all in the same boat. We agree with the direction yet want to see something more IMO. All we can do is hurry up and wait. Good thing is we can take shots if we don’t see what we like rather than reside in the culture club of cheerleaders

like I said this organization can't even scout talent properly . Lafy should have not been a first overall pick. he should have been a 2ed round pick. he is not doing well for a reason. :sarcasm: Howden is only on the roster to safe face from the Bolts trade. Hajek is also not that good. AHL depth at best. Rangers scouting needs to improve before this organization improves even at the NHL and junior levels. Jack Johnson a warrior are you kidding me. most teams would have Reunanen (given a look, he will be the next Ryan Graves and on a new team making his NHL debut with them or will bolt back to Europe.)

Every single team in the NHL would have drafted Lafreniere #1.

Every. Single. One.

You’re right. However, Howden *hasn’t* been successful there. He has in fact been the team’s worst regular among forwards on the PK

By what metric? Rooney has been the worst on the PK. Howden is 5th in PK ATOI among forwards and is the Rangers best face-off guy.

The point, however, was saying that he belongs in the ECHL is bullshit.

in those 6 wins they had 21 goals

and honestly, Georgiev having a sub .700 sv% is not an indicator we rely on "elite goaltending". no team in the league wins with that goaltending.

that’s the concern IMO. Mentioned before, they’re not flying around the ice like the typical kids team. I figured hustle and young energy would be the last thing to be worried about.
Absolutely. We’re just looking for effort and energy while excepting the mistakes as they come. Glad to see gorton go after some tougher players in the last draft but they a lot more in this area. The culture still needs some changes.

Reminds me of torts talking about the 25 percent rule

Friedman mentioned in his 31 thoughts that Zibanejad's poor play is really throwing a wrench into the Rangers plans of acquiring a #1C. And it makes a lot of sense - if Zib is playing at an elite level, it's much easier to stomach sending Chytil in a deal for Eichel knowing that we plan to re-sign Zib and run out two elite centers for the foreseeable future.

You have to imagine that the ADA situation is also having the same sort of effect on their long-term plans. Before, it was easier to stomach sending Lundkvist or Schneider in a deal, maybe even both of them if you're targeting a guy like Barkov. They were both expendable if we had Fox, Trouba, ADA locked up and playing at a high level. But now we're back to having a hole to fill at RHD.

I think the best move at this point is dealing Strome to the highest bidder, and really seeing what we have in both Zib and Chytil by giving them heavy 1C and 2C minutes for the rest of the season. Then, based on how they play in those roles between now and the end of the season, you re-assess and make a plan to move forward either sticking with those guys or making Chytil available for an Eichel or Barkov level player. No easy fix on the replacing ADA situation though, you probably have to stomach losing Nils or Schneider in any such deal and then hoping the other one develops into the 3rd pair RHD we need.

Here, I thought you guys could use a pick-me-up.

To be fair, given the state of the team, even though we've gone up by 3% since you last posted this, I think our chances have increased considering our likely path to avoiding sadness is to tank for a top 5 pick and not a playoff berth

So in the six games they managed to win they had to average 3.5 goals per, yippee?

You're kidding yourself if you think this team doesn't rely on elite goaltending to cover its long standing defensive deficentcies. It's been that way for ma

Our window to win is 2025-2026 ~ 2027-2028 with our projected age group we have if we keep the kids. Hold the line! We should still be trading for picks if we can't get young players back with entry level/low contracts. We can go and trade for Eichel if we want during the "win"dow if we need at some future TDL. By that time too, hopefully Wash, Bos, NYI , Phila, etc will be going through a full or small rebuild of their own to clear the way.

Zib and Strome won't be making that timeline but they might want to just wait until next year's TDL to dump them as a rental.
