Strome with Smith at 50 for ?

Geekie a good target and say a 2nd back ?

Strome and Fast reunited

I think you're 2 or 3 years late on that window.

I think our timeline starts next season.

To match it up with another team, it would be like Tampa when they hired Cooper. They were competitive from his first full season.

They can be "competitive" starting next season or the one after, but what would that mean? 8th to 10th? 1st round exit? Expectation to go from where we are now, playing like bottom feeders to all of a sudden being better than the teams ahead of us is a tall order over a Summer. We should expect them to be better than teams that are worse than us now (maybe 4 teams league wide), actually compete in games unlike Thursday, and win a few on talent.

Lafreniere and Kakko will be 24 in 2025, K'Andre 25, Chytil 25, Elder statesman Adam Fox 26. They will be moving into or solidly in their primes at those ages, and if things go well (every team tries to do this so no guarantees) that is the core that we would have to actually do damage with: high seeds, deep playoff runs, cup window). I am not just talking about sneaking into the playoffs to get beat by someone in 6 games round 1. I am talking when are we going to be a top team.

Hoping for earlier, expecting 4 years from now. We don't become cup contenders without progress starting next year, of course.

Kinda agree here too. Would rather deal with someone else. Although we did well in the Skjei trade. I guess it depends who we could get in return.

they’re looking like a young Bruins team. Yikes - Rod B sets the hustle bar high and leads by example. He might be the most fit person in that org.

of course we are. It’s the same conference and we’ll be back to a normal schedule likely by next season.
The Hurricanes are cup contenders right now. The Rangers are not close to that level. Whether to “help” them out or not is not something that should remotely concern the Rangers

i’m concerned b/c if the Rangers help strengthen the Canes it could the difference if they meet in the playoffs a year or two from now. Not to mention the regular season come next season.

They would lose anyway if they met a year or two from now with no moves between them. Which is kind of the point savant was making.

Everyone knows anything could happen but you don't plan for miracles or upsets. Teams like NYI or Phila shouldn't be doing things like that with CAR

Believe it or not they are pretty happy with skjei overall. I also think Robbie Keane turns into a 3rd pair offensive D that is very solid. Kind of in the Pionk mold. Hopefully Gauthier keeps improving

Quinn should just watch the Canes play on repeat.
I watch both teams just about every game and the difference is enormous. Yes, the Canes are a bit more mature and stronger on the back end, but their compete level is off the charts. It seems like their forwards have so much more time and space than Ranger forwards. I would attribute some of that to their guys working really hard without the puck. Bottom line is I get really disgusted watching the Rangers after watching the Canes.

idk about that. Players can come into their own in a year. If we’ve already conceded to Carolina two years down the road then why the heck did the team bother resigning a Kredier and why not ship out Buch soon? I’m not throwing in the towel two years from now.

Rod isn't afraid to play Skjei at critical times. He's been very solid for the Canes. Of course, he is who he is so there is the occasional "WTF" moment.

I wish Brindamour was our coach
It’s amazing how much better guys look in a solid system with good coaching and leadership. Fast and skjei got out at the right time, even though Brady wasn’t by choice. Rod knows how to get the most out his players for sure.

It's not about conceding, it's about reality and planning. Beating Carolina, even if it's on paper, would be an upset in the short term. It can happen! Car took years to get nice, and good for them. We will get there too. Until then, we can't worry about what they are doing.

Yea I’ve been watching. Brindy is definitely making skjei make the most of his physical tools. But he’s also putting him in a position to succeed which is half the battle. He loves Fast too. You can tell

Things change drastically from season to season. Look at the change in our offense and defense. I don't expect to be cup favorites, if that's what you mean. If and when this team makes the playoffs, anything can happen. We have a lot of talent and Shesterkin.

I personally think our coaching is a major issue and proponent to a lot of the teams problems.

But if we're talking about being being what Tampa has been the past few years... I think we can be there in 2 years. Tampa's window opened the first full year Cooper arrived imo. They've been bounced in the First Round twice. Made the Conference Finals twice. Made the Stanley Cup finals twice. Missed the playoffs once, in the middle of it all. This may be the end of their 'window peak'.. It happens to every team with the cap.
