In addition to Buch.

What else are you moving to acquire that 1C / 2C player?

He's a prime asset in this hypothetical and adds would depend on what's coming back.

It can go from adding mid-round picks or Howden, Lemieux or Hajek as smaller add-ins to higher picks and more prominent prospects.

Chytil stinks on the power play

He has the lower bite of a canine

And then you have Strome who’s going to put up around 60 pts per 82 this year while showing much improved defensive awareness and significantly cutting down his penalties.

and we know Mika from last game is much closer to the real Mika than the guy we saw the first 15 games. So I mean when you look at that with the star wingers we have is it really that smart to spend 10 mil on Eichel or Barkov?

if anything mikas season is going to get us a discount on him

Me? I am not.
But if talking about someone like Eichel, I think that we set that market at Buchnevich, Chytil, Lundqvist and a 1st. That is both a fair value and probably a better deal could not be had.

Not saying that I am trading for Eichel. But that is probably what it takes.

Want to talk someone like Larkin? Then the price goes down. Could be no one from the line up but prospects. So think a Lundqvist + let's say Kravstov. And then you are looking at moving Zbad.

Can we talk about Filip Chytil for a min?

this 21 year old kid isn’t going to be 22 for another 6 or 7 months big strong and WHEELS for days.

he’s on an 82 game pace of 46 points while missing 4-6 weeks with Covid akd a broken hand

AND he gets basically ZERO PP time.

He’s a 60 pt center minimum if he ever gets any real pp time in his career

do we seriously not see him as the legit 2C heir apparent?

we very well might be smarter to just keep our own centers and stay away from a big ticket.

Love Chytil! I'd raise your 2C and see 1bC at least. He's the one that definitely should be locked up on a long-term contract that should have a very decent AAV.

Even with the current set up, Zibanejad (showing strong signs of at least coming back to his sub-PPG level) - Chytil - Strome is a pretty good center depth for the future too, especially considering that the team's main strength would come from the wings.

Eichel no.

Barkov to replace/upgrade Strome, yes. Having Barkov-Zibs as your top6, with our wingers, our d and Shesty... winning combo

I'd rather Chytil be the one focusing on defensive duties; ie, I'd rather him get PK experience. I think he could be a great matchup Center.

At what point do we say we don’t need to ‘upgrade’ Strome?
Until Chytil or another center shows they can matchup reliably

Zibs Strome Chytil is not strong enough defensively imo. IF Chytil develops that side, it becomes doable

There just isn't enough a diversity in out top 9 forwards, and certainly not in our centers. They are all just progressively weaker versions of the same player in a lot of ways, albeit with different primary skill strengths (zib scoring, strome passing, chytil possession).

The combination of Chytil/Kaako for sure seems to have the ability to, in short order, becoming a pretty dominant 2-way duo. The question is, who’s on the LW.

until he scorches the league again next year.

Next year is really going to be our best chance to win in the near future. Hope the FO takes advantage of that.

Would love it to be Kreider.

I think it almost has to be right? Lafreniere and Panarin aren’t going there. That line would have the puck all the time.

See this is what I wish I saw more from Quinn and his staff. The thought to project forward how things SHOULD work. Something like:

Panarin-Strome-Gauthier
Lafreniere-Zibanejad-Buch
Kreider-Chytil-Kakko
Lemieux-Rooney-Howden

to me, if this team stick together into next year, that’s the general map I’d like to see just based on how they could be used and how I think the team could be successful.

No Barron?

Even if I like Strome's play more and more, there are things to consider. Lets say we all of a sudden lost him. Moved him at the deadline or whatever. We won't be able to fill many spots really cheap and get great production for the buck. But like lets say we had to fill that position, I would definitely be excited if we just got some random project for it. Like say an Alex Nylander type.

I think Barron and Kravtsov could force the issue somewhere for sure but I just meant what I’d like to see this season. A formula for putting guys in spots to succeed and clearly defined roles

I forgot about Kravtsov too. But I agree with where you have everyone slotted.

It seems theres a market for goaltenders but no one is interested in Georgiev.

right or wrong, he likely isn't on that list cause the rangers aren't looking to move him right now...most of those guys are potentially available because their teams have more than 1 goalie to protect in the expansion draft.
