Can't wait for Schneider and Robertson to arrive.

Our team is going to be BIG, THICC, TRUNKKY with a mid-west ethos but also skilled and mobile.

Trouba - Miller - Robertson - Schneider - thats a behemoth d-corps with Lindgren who is very solid and tough despite his size and of course Adam Orr doing his thing.

Zibanejad, Kreider, Lafreniere, Kakko, Chytil, Kravtsov all have great size and and skill.

NJ can build its army of speedy twinks, thats now how you win. Once this team matures, look out. Can be like St. Louis but better.

Don't forget Barron. He's going to be a solid 3/4 type guy.

Let me reiterate something I posted earlier this week. The Kings “off limits” list for Eichel is very short. They have strong interest. The teams talked extensively before the deadline and may have been laying the groundwork for an off season deal.

I guess they haven't heard the stories about Eichel behind the scenes?

Yeah, it's a really tough call. This could be a very interesting off-season.

Extending Chytil on at least 6 year deal should be a no brainer.

Extending Buchnevich is a tougher call but should be done if he's amiable to take around $6m AAV on a long-term deal without NTC so he's movable when / if he's being squeezed out of position by younger players and the cap is an issue.

Find a way to move Kreider. This one could go into the unrealistic bucket but it would be great way to solve a lot of issues that signing caused (as a result of drafting Lafreniere and flat post-covid cap).

Other decisions to be punted until the next TDL or offseason.

We are going to have the best young D in the league in a year or 2.

Lindgren - Fox
Miller - Trouba
Jones - Lundkvist

Robertson - Schneider

Who can match that group?

Wonder if we see this next year

Jones-Trouba
Miller-Lundkvist

Jones and Lundkvist in a more offensive role with Miller and Trouba playing more defensively.

what will be enough to get into the playoffs next year is not having an abysmal, slow start, which seems to be DQ's MO. Think about it, the Rangers go on these late season streaks because their top players get into a nice rhythm and their chemistry is on point and they can do all these skilled plays. And DQ starts leaning more and more on Panarin, Zibanejad, Strome, and goaltending because they're in a groove. But they still miss the playoffs because in the beginning of the season, or after a long break (Bubble playoffs) these plays don't work because they're rusty. So the team stinks. They can't play any other way and win ugly, the way NYI does. NYI always does really well a the start of the season. I guarantee you we see this bullshit again next year if DQ stays on.

Probably but atleast next year we will have a normal training camp and preseason games.

It's not Quinn's fault that Mika got Covid and sucked to start the year. It's not his fault that Panarin got accused of beating up a girl and took a leave of absence.

We have a better winning percentage through 45 games than we had through 70 games last year.

We are 5th in the league in scoring (same as last year) and 7th in goals against (23rd last year).

This team was also the youngest in the league until the devils sold off a bunch of vets. Inconsistency should be expected. Even the best teams struggle at times.

Trotz has the advantage of having a team full of vets to lean on, and yet his team sucked at the end of last year and might have missed the playoffs if not for the pause. And they have been struggling lately, to the point where we have a legitimate shot of catching them.

That about sums it up It should also be noted on what the Rangers record has been compared to the rest of the league for the last 4-6 weeks and that they are firmly in the playoffs in any other division.

Even with these actual factors the Rangers would've found themselves in a playoff position this year if:

a. it was a full 82 game season
b. playoff selection included a cross-division wild card invite based on points (like in a normal season)

$4.5 give or take.

That's a lot for a guy who has 66 points in 175 career games. If we are going to give him consistent top 6 time, maybe, but then there's the question of whether or not Chytil would sign that. He, and his agent, might think he can make more by taking a smaller deal now and getting paid again later.

5th in scoring, 7th in GA, 5th in GD, would be in playoff position in every other division, and we are very likely going to miss. Sucks.

It does sounds generous but Chytil is at 0.5 ppg this season and will only get better so even at this price point it could be a bargain as soon as next season. But if Gorton can squeeze a smaller AAV ($3.9 - $4.2) more power to him. The key is to lock him up on a longer deal so not to worry about resigning in 2-3 year when he'll be 1-2 years away from UFA

today is the first time all season we have more wins than losses. The team was legit awful at the start and that was before all the injuries/Panarin fiasco. Losses by 1 goal or 8 goals count the same. You cannot afford such a poor start, even in a normal season. Every team had the same circumstances.

It would have helped if the goalies could stop beach balls in those first 8 games. And would have also helped if Mika was not a face on a milk cartoon. Strome's play was also piss poor at the beginning.

Agree. The slow start is magnified in a 56 game season. I still think if Mika wasn't the walking dead in the first 15 games we would be in playoff position. He absolutely killed this team early on. It is what it is.

I take this as their no-fly list is just Byfield.

I'd imagine LA offers Turcotte, Bjornfot/Kaliyev, young roster player and a 1?

His game really does seem to have fallen off a cliff

He's been better recently, he's being scratched for disciplinary reasons. Acted like a clown the past 2 games getting 10 min misconducts in both I believe.

I've heard the bolded so many times, yet here we are.

Someone like him will become available. There are people here who didn't think Eichel would become available as recently as a year ago.

The Age difference is a valid factor. But so is the injury history (really for both.) Eichel has been injured more than Zibanejad was through their age 24 seasons.

Rangers would be wise to avoid both Eichel and the Zibanejad extension. There will be other options available.
Maybe. But when Rangers had Stepan and Brassard as top six centers, many here felt that they werent good enough. They were not "elite". And they were the first two significant trades Gorton made. When he was trying to rebuild "on the fly". Before the letter and the teardown.
Gorton will try to trade for Eichel.
