I don't think the Rangers will go full Defcon 1 and trade everyone for Eichel. Drury is still here. I got a lot of texts about that today.

There will be some changes and vets with playoff experience brought in. I think Buch, Strome, and possibly Mika and Chytil will be moved.

Some of the LHD prospects like Robertson and Reunnenan will not be back.

But that is basically the JD & Gorton plan, no? So why blow them up so dramatically creating unrest in the franchise? Feels like someone muscled Dolan to hit JD & Gorton for their outing of the NHL and the DoPS hypocrisy.

JD and Gorton were doing it at a slower pace. The pace will pick up, not necessarily go full Esposito.

Sure, but this was the off season to speed things up and make moves anyway. The needs on the team are glaring and obvious enough, better two way play at C, toughness/physicality, veteran presence, 3rd pairing etc. Pretty straight forward stuff really. This firing was a hatchet job for whatever reasons I hope will come out sooner rather than later.

Honestly, I think Drury and Dolan would be more interested in Brady Tkachuk than Jack Eichel
Ottawa would be the dumbest franchise if they traded him. The kid is an unbelievable hockey player. Lots of Skill, Nasty, tough.

How did Hajek get drafted in the 2nd round? And what the hell did our scouts like so much about him when they traded for him?

Chytil, our Top 15 1st, and another piece are gonna go in a deal for a top line player; then we'll sign some gritty vets for the bottom 6

I'd bet Buchnevich goes in another deal as well. Could see Zib easily go. I think Strome has found his way into a 5 x 5 contract or something to be honest.

Also wouldn't be surprised at something like Chytil + Buch + ?? for Tkachuk in Calgary

Chytil, 14th overall, Zac Jones, and Kravstov or something else significant from trading away Buchnevich all for Eichel seems like it could easily be on the horizon now

Zib traded for a hard nosed good LD could very well happen.

Could easily see them signing like Stastny on a 3 year deal

If the team just keeps Laf, Kakko, Fox, Igor then I won't get overwhelming upset

Let's assume Dolan is nutso and tells Drury that he must get him Eichel here. Ideally it'd be something like Chytil, Jones, Kravstov, 2021 1st (top 15). We would 100% have to ship out Zib for salary reasons. I also wouldn't be surprised if they looked at Zib as not worth it due to injury history and softness in his play, whether I/we agree with that or not.

Laf Eichel Buch
Panarin Strome Vet w/ grit
Kreider Stastny Kakko
Goon Barron Vet w/ grit

Lindgren Fox
Miller Trouba
Vet w/ grit Lundkvist

I still worry more about the speed of the group (probably "playing fast" more than skating, but both) than I do about physicality.

I do think team physicality is a concern, but with speed, I think you hit the nail on the head about it being more our style of play than our personnel.

Look at that 2014 roster. Aside from Kreider, Hagelin and, to a lesser extent, McDonagh, it's not like everyone was a barn burner, particularly at the top of the lineup.

Stepan was never fast, nor were Richards and Nash. Brassard and Zucc had decent wheels, but nothing extraordinary. Despite that, we were the fastest team in the league. It was because of how we played.

Sorry, but Kakko absolutely cannot be on the 3rd line next season. Both him and Laf will be on the top 2 lines.

Though, why would Dolan want Eichel? He hasn’t done anything in Buffalo. It’s hardly like wanting like LeBrown James. Thinks can’t be more clear that Eichel will give you absolutely nothing unless you have a very strong team around him.

I'm not making my ideal roster here. I am trying to formulate what is best case scenario mixed in with a degree of what I expect the new brass will do. There absolutely will be a gritty top 6 player next year, I'd bet money on that.

Did you miss the entire Carmelo Anthony saga that engulfed the Knicks for years?

Yeah, but aren’t the NBA a bit different in this regard? At least theoretically one guy can make a heck of a difference in basketball as I understand it. Don’t know about McDavid, but nobody can think that Eichel alone can do much for you if you trade “everything” for him.

Eichel would have Panarin, Laf, Buch, Kreider, Fox, Lindgren, Igor, Trouba, Miller, etc etc to work with versus what he had in Buffalo which was. . . ? Dahlin and Reinhart? Like gimme a break lmao.
