NHL players are gonna have it 'rough' for a while. IF I undertand it right... IF you play in New York, you may only see around 30% of your 'salary'. Taxes and Escrow..... oof.

Once again, if I understand it correctly, that means a player like Panarin will be walking with roughly $4M a year... oofx2

You can see why players want to go to States with no state-tax.

It's a big deal to a fan base of a team that has barely made the playoffs at all throughout their franchise history

Not at a cost of not winning for another 5+ years. Their 1C is supposedly here for two more years during which they are far from a contention and then what? Lose him and back to square one again. Wash and repeat.

Maybe they should’ve sold out and showed commitment to build around him, and maybe now he signs long-term and break this cycle.
