If the performance bonuses are pro-rated, the Rangers would have $4,079,916 in cap space with 14 forwards and 7 defensemen*

That changes things significantly.

*Assuming the overall cap stays the same
I saw the same post that Steven saw. If the Rangers and the league interpret this the same way, this has major potential. It would affect the Rangers more than any other team in the league. Not just for a possible free agent signing but also for a potential trade. Anyone got a left hand defenseman or a second line center they would like to move?

if bonuses and salaries are pro-rated then the cap would have to also. it won't create extra cap space

Not necessarily. The shortened season in 12-13 had a higher salary cap than the seasons before and after actually while having lower PBs due to pro-rating

But this is a situation we never dealt with so who knows...

Dunno, but remember the organist would play “She was just 17” before face offs when Dino was on the ice. There was a story about a limo and an underage gal.
Steve Leach’s 17-year-old girlfriend, reportedly. Geoff Courtnall and Scott Stevens were involved. 17 was not underage in that jurisdiction, but she alleged rape. I think they were all traded within a season or two.

Really goes to show how much of a step up the NHL is in terms of speed and skating from basically everywhere. Brendl was fantastic in the WHL, good in the AHL, an awesome scorer in the KHL, Liiga, tore up the SHL, etc. And couldn't stick at all in the NHL. He had some other deficiencies but you hit the nail on the head, the skating was the killer.

Brendl's deficiency was not putting in the work in the offseason. He could have played in the nhl if he had the drive of a real nhl player, he was happy to just coast on his skills.

What post are you referring to? Can you repost it? I might have missed it due to having the poster on ignore.

Based on follow up with Uncle Larry, this is correct.

won't complain cause it benefits us but doesn't seem right to pro-rate bonuses but not salaries and the cap....in a shortened season a player making $10 mil only gets $6.83 mil but that doesn't give the team an extra $3 mil in space...

also if the bonus is $250k to win the calder than why is it 170K cause the regular season was shortened? the guy still won the trophy.
