I think their plan was just to sign every UFA, but all the good ones were taken. Or Benning just loves depth players and jam. On second thought it’s probably just the latter.

Vancouver signing Ferland makes me chuckle. For a week in April 2015 he was basically Godzilla in that city.

It's the jam for sure. He signed Schaller and Roussel last year. Adding Ferland makes sense based on what he is trying to build

If they were going to sell players at a reduced rate they would have done it already. How often does Gorton trade for poor value?

Hopefully with Ferland off the board, others will go quickly as well

Feel like it's just Dzingel and Gardiner left for a multi-year contract. Not going to count Thornton, Marleau and Williams as I'm sure they are all headed to San Jose and Carolina. You look at the rest of the list and it's probably just 1 year deals/camp try out guys.

Yeah, not expecting that at all. Not every trade will be a win, but he will not sell on the cheap.

I'm trying to determine what a guy like Boyle would get. Maybe 1-2 year deal?

Brassard
Phaneuf
McQuaid
Maroon

I could see guys like:
McQuaid
Petrovic
Rieder
Sheahan
McGinn
Lindberg
Getting PTO's

If we end up trading Kreider for 50 cents on the dollar, I'm sure you'll agree that it was an issue too.

This conversation is had regularly and yet it rarely occurs. The same thought process is given to guys with NMC's an yet they often return what a normal player without a NMC would return.

I think it's more likely the teams that are very interested in Kreider probably were interested in Ferland. Now he's gone. Gorton probably has 3-4 teams interested and now that only 1 of them got Ferland the others will circle back.

Sam thing with Namestnikov and maybe a guy like Dzingel.

There will be a few teams interested in the players and that is what create the market value.

I love seeing Phaeuf without a job. What a absolute hump.

I mean...fist pump all you want (I dislike him too) but he's had a 14-year career, accruing...net worth is...north of 80-90M with any fiscal responsibility and investment. so at 35 and ..."without a job" is very, very lol.

as for Elisha, questionable decision making with both scum bags, Sean Avery isn't any better.

His agent was saying how he had options and teams were interested. He's got a lot of money for sure, but he doesn't have one ounce of respect around this league from his fellow players and the GMs obviously don't think too much of him either. I don't care how much money you've made, when you identify primarily as a hockey player (and an arrogant one at that) and are now told you aren't good enough, all the money in the world isn't covering up that blow to his pride.

I don't think the word NET means what you think it means

not much left on the UFA market...but still some big time RFAs still not signed. that could be preventing from some teams from looking at trades or lesser UFAs until they know how much those RFAs will cost them.
