I'm not an accountant or any kind of business person--raising Shattenkirk's trade profile is secondary to me to putting the best possible team on the ice any given night. If Shattenkirk does not play as well as DeAngelo and Fox IMO he shouldn't be playing.

Tony needs to diversify his game a little and add penalty killing to his repertoire. He does that he will be a 20 minute a night top 4 NHL D. If he can't and Fox comes in and shows he's capable of playing in all situations then he leapfrogs Tony in the pecking order.

Rangers gave up quite a bit to get Fox--probably more than they had to because Fox had put the Hurricanes in an awkward position. That said the Rangers got Robertson with the #49 OA so that 37OA is pretty significant and next year there's a pretty decent possibility that Carolina will get another 2nd--so I don't see the Rangers not giving Fox a chance if he comes to training camp and wows everyone.

imo, fox was acquired for a few reasons. first and foremost, kids talented. with ADA and fox, this team has its own version of cale makar and bowen byrum. perhaps shatty is our barrie- just no where near as good lol.

im not sure this organization intended to have trouba and fox and ADA and shatty all in camp.

shatty was shopped at the deadline, on draft day and since has been available. no takers. when there are no takers, ala staal, smith and now shatty, that tells you something. onerous contracts for poor results. we have 3 all playing defense....

fox will push ADA I'm sure. tony knows hes here and hes here to play so a few more scratches and he may lose his spot. thats motivation enough to keep it on the down low and just play.

i agree, fox was brought here to play right away. not the worst thing to have him start in hartford but if hes the better player in camp, we dont want kevin staal on the blue line.

The year of the hold out.

What assurances did the Rangers make to Fox? He wanted to sign with the Rangers. There is no guarantee Fox is making team out of training camp. If the Rangers feel the player needs to begin his pro career in the AHL, they will do what's best for the player.

McDonagh was leery of signing with the Rangers in 2010. He didn't know anything about the Rangers after his trade in 2009. He signed with the Rangers and ended up playing the first 3 months of his pro career in the AHL. He was OK in his first pro camp.

Same thing with Skjei. He started his career in the AHL.

Pionk was a highly coveted free agent college D. Where did he start his pro career?

What's the big deal with Fox starting the season in Hartford? He should have a long NHL career ahead of him and spending a few months in the AHL won't derail his career.

I’ll bet you a 20 he does not start in Hartford. His agent was promised a roster spot.

Single time throwing a water bottle or multiple? 54 mins seems like a lot.

I remember watching that game and thinking "Why is it 54 minutes?" but there must have been something else that happened there. Throwing a water bottle at the ref is one thing, but I think he also shoved a referee for missing the slash to the face by Burmistrov that made him lose his cool

burdasov is a sloth

dont understand the interest at all

we should be good top 6 right now

its the 3 headed S monster that needs to be addressed

staal. smith. shatty.

If you can acquire Burdasov to replace 4m in salary by trading Namestnikov, it's a good move. As long as it's below $1,050,000 there is no risk at all

why not just trade names ?

i get that burd adds size and some hands to the roster, especially if CK is moved, but as long as CK is here, that net front presence role is his and dont see a spot for the sloth like burd.

YOu have to REPLACE Names once you trade him...

Otherwise you're putting Greg McKegg out there. f*** that

Why not do both? Adding another player who has professional experience for nothing but money is a good business philosophy. Perhaps they hit on something. Or he decides he doesn't fit and goes back to Russia. No real risk

i dont see the need or the room

the 3rd line seems set.

lemme howden or stromer and andersson would be a terrific 3rd line

the 4th line can have mckegg on it hes actually a decent 4th line type guy along with quickie

i just dont see the need for burd with CK still here for the time being

I doubt players on entry level contracts get those assurances

Most definitely don’t but ones coming out of college with some leverage and star power you’d be naive to think otherwise. We had these same convos about Hayes and Vesey. Vesey never got sent down when he should have many times.

We don’t need to replace namestnikov we don’t even have a spot for him now. We need to clear a spot. Not bring some slow 28 year old rookie over for money. This is weird

Burdasov is supposedly a pretty physical guy. Depending on the status of Smith, Lemieux would be the only guy up front or on the back end who really plays with any aggressive physicality. I think he's worth a shot. And if it ends up that he can't keep up, or that younger, more skilled players push him out, then I'm sure he would have his contract terminated and go back to Russia.

Again, if the salary is max $1,050,000 it's a no-risk acquisition. Try him out, see if it works. If it doesn't, send him down/back to Russia without a cap hit

How long is that going to last? I'd say the chance that he is here beyond the trade deadline is slim to none. Regardless, I don't see Burdasov as a Kreider replacement. He may not even make the team, never mind the top 6. As long as the contract can be buried without penalty, there's no risk.
