You need to be a “nerd” to know which side a guy shoots from?
If you care that a photoshopped photo doesn’t have his right handedness then yes you are nerd. I pretty sure they made it that way because it would look best on the screen. I very much doubt the Rangers cared about it at all. Ticky tack bullshit.

I don't know what to think of Gusev. Wouldn't want to sign him to a six-year deal before he plays an NHL game. I think just hope he signs a 1 year deal and goes UFA next summer.

I’d be just fine giving him a 4 year deal at a reasonable contract. 6 years is an eternity but guys like Antoine Roussell and Leo Komarov got 4 year deals.

And I'm not saying you should disbelieve him. But from what I've seen, I'm quite skeptical.

I know, like I said I’m a little skeptical as well.

Another poster on twitter pointed out that he was right about Erik Karlsson. Said in July of last year that he wouldn’t be traded until at least the beginning of August. Karlsson was moved in September.

Again, I’m still skeptical.

Disagree. It’s quite a large lapse in attention to detail. If a MLB club goes to recruit a pitcher in free agency and used a photoshop of him as a lefty when he’s really a righty, that’s just some meaningless error? It makes them look foolish.

This is where the organization is attempting to put its best foot forward and sell a player on coming to play for them. Whether or not AP cares or it impacts his decision isn’t known, but it’s a pretty embarrassing miss.

I know a guy who knows a guy who may have heard from that guy something about another guy making a deal with another guy...

This isn’t the MLB and he’s not a pitcher so that comparison is meaningless.

Embarrassing mess? You’re acting like they put a picture of Bobrovsky up there and told him it was him.

would you turn down 80 million dollars because someone made a photoshop error. I know I certainly would!

I can see a market for Vescey.
Of course I can see a market for Kreider.

But, can someone tell me what team is going to trade for Namestnikov and his 4 million a year?

I keep reading the Rangers are going to trade him to clear cap space. I don't know what team is sitting around saying "Gee we could really use Namestnikov."

Have we heard one rumor of a team having interest?

With that said I can see value in Namestnikov at the deadline. But not now, not unless the Rangers are retaining salary which in a way defeats the purpose of trading him.

The Rangers have many ways to sweeten a deal for Panarin including a significant upfront front loading and contract payments structured as bonuses (which would not be subject to state taxes) Think net present value of cash. I am sure the Rangers pitch to Panarin included financial strategies, endorsement opportunities and a conversation about the top heavy Atlantic Division.

I’m on vacation and gotten texts from my hockey friends telling me he’s signing with the Rangers and he is not.

I was in St Mark’s Cathedral in Venice when the Rangers signed Kevin Hayes and I’ll be in Glacier National Park (which I consider to be another Cathedral) on Monday. So we’ll see...

Where were you during the draft lottery?

A few weeks ago people said maybe $10.5mil for Panarin and now apparently $12mil isn't enough

I've been saying all along after the skinner debacle of a signing that panarin will not sign for less than 12m aav and if that's the case then good luck Florida trying to create a whole roster since they only have about 6 people signed and barely any cap space left after panarin signs for that ridiculous amount.

He's going to end up in Florida.

They have the tax advantage and the space.

I don't see him signing with the Devils as they're a shit franchise. Isles and FLA both have an advantage in the sense that they can offer an opportunity for a packaged deal with the 2 of them. I can see both NJ and NYI coming in with the highest bids but still falling short.

I'm not even a fan of signing this guy at 11 million. 12 would be insane.

The tax difference between NY and Florida on a 7 year deal with a 12M AAV is worth somewhere between 5-6M with half the games taxed in the home state and the other half equal. The Rangers can easily offset that by frontloading it much more than Florida can allowing him to exceed the 5-6M by investing more sooner.

That said 12M is really pushing it with the contract.
