There are multiple reasons draft sheets do not happen. One of them is the ability to get deals done with other GMs once you become the rat.

As to the rest, again, NO ONE came close to offering that at the draft. As such, and just my view of course, no one is offering that right now.

So we seem to agree on the likelihood of the offer sheet.
I'll take your word on the draft day offers, I have no idea what was being proposed, or even if the Rangers were really listening on 2020 picks at the time

just look at Toronto and tell me again you want to throw 9 million at Panarin.

As good as he is, our prospect pool will produce a guy like him in 2 years.
I agree. I would pass on Panarin and move Kreider at the deadline if need be and keep cap flexibility.

Dvorak is still playing? Feels like the Czech line with he, Nedved, and Hlavac was ages ago. He has to be in his 40's by now. I don't really think we need to trade for someone like that even if it would be nice to have another Czech player on the team with Chytil. If we want an older veteran presence we can just sign Matt Cullen if he is interested in returning.

@Ola or any of our other European posters on here... are any of you familiar with this guy?

My initial thought was BS, but then I looked and he called a few trades including calling Cam Talbot to Philly almost 2 months before it happened. So I’m torn on this and wanted to see if anyone knew anything.

Here’s the link to him calling Talbot to Philly in December...

I looked into the Duchene trade. He did tweet it would get done within a day an hour or two before it was announced. But it was still after Arthur Staple strongly hinted that it was about to get done.

I bet there are similar stories for the others if you dig. Doesn't scream insiderr to me. But his follower count has doubled since this morning, so good on him.

I’m pretty sure this is a joke, but given some of the other posts in this thread you can never be 100% for sure.

That’s why I said I’m torn. I don’t know what to believe. Steven says he’s 50/50 on him. It’s exactly why I’m not parading this around like we just got Panarin.

I don't know what to think of Gusev. Wouldn't want to sign him to a six-year deal before he plays an NHL game. I think just hope he signs a 1 year deal and goes UFA next summer.

If you work in NY, it makes absolutely no difference how many business trips you make. 100% of your income is taxable in NY.

But if you work at a bunch of places? It’s not like the players that play away games in NY have 100% of their income taxes in NY.

I have no clue whatsoever.

Wouldn't you think if he signs a long term deal in the NHL and it turns out he's some mega bust there's a reasonably good chance he just terminates the contract and goes back to play in the KHL like Shipachyov? I don't know where to find KHL salaries but Kovalchuk/Datsyuk were making around 5M there and he's a better player than both in that league at this time so I'm not sure he would be giving up that much money by doing so.

McPhee didn’t even acknowledge Gusev when he was brought up today. He’s a goner , wants too much for Them

I would definitely bet on Gusev playing in the KHL next season. McPhee won’t move him unless he gets a big return and given the contract situation he will probably not get that. It’s just how GMGM does business.

Haha, i freaking knew there was likely some Mcdonalds lobster item out there but was too lazy to google it. Thought about trying to change my analogy but couldnt think of anything better....
They had that in Quebec back when I was a student there. It was a head-scratcher and I never partook. But actually it looks mildly compelling in hindsight.

I know people who works with taxes for pro athletes. Nobody knows what these guys are making, it’s guess work at best. They do everything to make it tax efficient and there are a ton of shady stuff going on. Travel expenses. Education funds. Living expenses for family. Etc etc etc.

It’s not official.
