It's funny all the trashing of Gorton and saying stuff like he's asleep at the wheel or what not. Rick carpinello told me gmjg is the hardest working gm the rangers have had in his tenure. He said he works his ass off.

Saw a report on fb that the Rangers qualified both Buch and DeAngelo

Edit: that was from 4 days ago so it may have already been discussed

The Stars and Zuccarello are either apart on term(4 instead of 5) or salary($1M per) or both. Zuccarello will be 35 at the start of the season in his 4th year of a 4 year contract. The Stars have reportedly offered a 4 year contract.

He was having an awful year until January when he stopped moping about not getting a contract extension and feeling slighted because Quinn flew all the way to Sweden to meet with Hank. Zuccarello wasn't part of the trip. Having Zuccarello fly into Sweden or having Quinn go to Norway was part of Quinn's itinerary.

Is Sakic giving Zuccarello more than 4 years? Joe is a little conservative. Zuccarello will be 36 at the start of the 5th season in any contract.

Nill said the plan is for Zuccarello and the Stars to see what is out there and then circle back to each other to see if there is deal to be made.

"We've talked a little bit with his agent, but he wants to test the free-agent market and he's got that right," Nill said Friday at the NHL Draft. "So they going to look into the market and see what else is out there and then we will swing back and see where he's at.

"We've got an interview period that starts Sunday, so we'll start talking to other people and he'll do the same thing and we'll see where things go."

RFA interview period does not begin until the 26th, I'm not sure I am expecting Trouba to sign until at least after then, maybe not any of the RFAs. Seems like they'd at least like to talk to the other teams to gauge their level of interest before signing.

Is there any conclusive truth to whether he can’t sign before July 1st or not? Doesn’t make sense to me but have read it in a few places.

I think Trouba could as a RFA without any term left on that deal.

I think the July 1st thing is only for players to extend where they would be extending before they are in their final contract year, hence Kreider.

Yet the dates and terminology confuse me.

So far he's either met with or will be meeting with:
Chicago
Florida
Colorado

Nothing on the Rangers.

If after all this deliberation from both sides on Panarin, if the Rangers aren't even given the opportunity to speak with him I'm going to be laughing until next offseason.

Seems like the Stars board is already sick of Wolfy.

If his priority is winning, I think Colorado is much more attractive than Dallas.

Look at this guy...goes to Vancouver, talks to a few people and now he thinks he's an insider or something. Have you been vetted?

Cant tell if you are serious or not

It came across sarcastic but I just saw on twitter that someone said Dennis Bernstein was on NHL Radio and said Panarin will be in NYC tomorrow to meet with the Rangers.

Can anyone confirm? Taking it with a grain of salt until I see/hear something more concrete.

I think Gilmour's a unique enough player that it makes sense for teams to want to look at him in camp, get their coaches working with him, see if he can basically do anything else. If you're totally penciling him in for an NHL spot you're probably not gonna have a good time.

Stinks that the Stars weren't able to sign Zucc before he tests the market. The gamble Gorton took cant be measured until we know for certain if the lil guy will return to Dallas. Was nice to get Robertson with the 2nd pick an all. It s sort of like grabbing an extra first rounder anyway...But its wasn't. Guess there is a chance he will sign in Dallas there but im not holding my breath on it.

I don't think the Rangers are in on Panarin to be honest. It's almost like a formality that they are going to meet with him. Florida seems like the end game for him, and im OK with that.
