I think the UFA store isn't where the rangers need to be shopping this summer. Panarin is compelling but I wouldn't go crazy with the cost. A veteran D isn't what the rangers need though I'm partial to McQuaid if they wanted one for some outlandish reason.Who outside of Panarin will be a good get for us on July 1st?
Agree. And Nylander - while an excellent player - isn't an ideal guy for the Rangers.Even if he's just a prospect, he had an incredible season last year. Not to mention, he's something that this team doesn't have something similar in the system, and not many teams around the league have something similar (and that's even if he doesn't hit his ceiling, which is sky high).
Do you think Robertson could have even been drafted with the #20 pick if we kept it, or too high for him there?
Is a veteran 4c something that has been discussed? I don't see the need, frankly. But of course they bring one in almost every summer. But if just as well proceed as-is. Unless they go the (dopey) buyout route. Then I guess theyd need some backfill.Veteran 4C is pretty much a guarantee. I hope they get better vets for Hartford. Bigger players, maybe Gusev's rights would make sense, I'd like Simmonds on a show-me contract but if someone wants to give him 3-4 years forget about him.
Got a lot of NCAA kids signed to AHL contracts, along with our own prospects. I’d wager they don’t sign vets for down there until they hire a coach.
He's worth three years. I love him too. But not for the Rangers, methinks.I love Pavelski but don't wanna give him 3 years
Beagle did not get 4x4. You're shitting me. Really??!!We'll have to see how things shake out but for the sake of an example here are all the multiyear contracts signed in FA last year with cap hits between 2M and 4.5M.
Jay Beagle - 4 x 4
Matt Calvert - 3 x 2.85
David Perron - 4 x 4
Riley Nash - 3 x 2.75
Vlad Namestnikov - 2 x 4
Michael Grabner - 3 x 3.35
Derek Ryan - 3 x 3.125
Blake Comeau - 3 x 2.4
Leo Komarox - 4 x 3
Antoine Roussel - 4 x 3
Outside of Perron/Ryan these are not particularly great contracts for depth players but they all make more money than Vesey/Fast/almost all more than Strome. Namestnikov has extra value now in that you can get him for 1 year and avoid the 3-4 year term on much of these guys.
From another teams perspective I would far prefer to trade for one our forwards with 1 year left and give up a mid to late pick than to sign a player like this.
18-21 minutes a night. Good on the PP, but might be PP2 with Trouba here now. We like to put a 4th forward rather than a 2nd Dman on the PP.Honest question here. Asking as offered the player for a roto keeper league. Where is DeAngelo going to play in your defensive scheme? Power play?
Thanks in advance.
They’ll have Beleskey. They can always have Smith back toono idea when they will hire a coach. but the way JD talked about rebuilding hartford and raving about the play of mark letestu with cleveland (blue jackets AHL team), i have a feeling that they view getting the right veterans into hartford as almost as important as signing guys for the rangers. no idea where everyone will fit but I think this is a priority for the team
No chance not on roster?18-21 minutes a night. Good on the PP, but might be PP2 with Trouba here now. We like to put a 4th forward rather than a 2nd Dman on the PP.
Others can provide more insight or different opinions.

No chance not on roster?
Ok thanks allHe will definitely be on the roster and should have every opportunity to excel. If he can take hockey seriously he will be a main stay. Meaning not be late to practice or his other dumb antics. He won't be the #1 offensive option now with trouba here but that may open things up for him to p,ay against lesser opponents
Yep sorry manNo chance - and No chance you’re going to fill this thread with your fantasy hockey questions. Peace.
I don't buy it. But if it is true, Panarin is not the player we want, anyhow. Can someone please show me how so many on here are absolutely certain that Panarin to Florida is a done deal?
The fascination with trading for Ryan Reaves continually leaves me dumbfounded.
It's all good, half of our posts are just crap posting anyway; sometimes we even make trade proposals with UFAs in them! hahYep sorry man
Because you know what? Big-time players become available every season. There is a possibility Taylor Hall will become a free agent next summer. Hall or Panarin? That’s an easy one. The 2017-18 Hart Trophy winner every time. And if not Hall, there will be someone else because there always is, and because the NHLPA’s ignorant decision to depress the cap will force teams to shed big-time players with big-time cap hits.

Ehh, I’m not counting it as final until Names is flipped. Not sure if anyone mentioned this but with this draft, we have a final tally for the Ryan McDonagh trade.
McDonagh + JT Miller
for
Hajek, Howden, Namestnikov, Lundkvist, and Karl Hendriksson
