I think you can trade the 2020 1st with a protection clause if you're damn sure about signing Panarin. Like, collusion-sure. Otherwise it's pretty crazy.

Yeah I should’ve included this. The wording from insiders has been “calculated risk”. To me that indicates the Rangers expecting to be a playoff team next season.

I was just there for the first time as an adult. Awesome city. Wish I could've spent more time, but I had a limited amount of it and really wanted to hit Olympic NP.
Nice, I'm actually on that side of the Puget Sound, I work for the Department of the Navy in Keyport, WA. Around an hour south of the Olympics...When I was a teenager, lived at the base of the Olympics, right around Hurricane Ridge.. Nice area, but Port Angeles is a tough place to call home...Joined the Navy, done my twenty and just moved back here from Syracuse, NY in October.:thumbu:

The other alternative is to actually give flat out verified, non-vague intel and still get **** for it though. I know that you know who I am talking about, too. We've unfortunately seen a couple of legitimate Rangers insiders run off the board by the horde.

I feel like most people have been really respectful of what @Edge is doing for us. Sure, you have a few annoying posters, but that's true whenever there's a large group of people engaging in a community.

Edge has handled himself really well and just ignored those people or given reasoned explanations as responses. That's significantly different than how someone like Dagoon handled those who questioned him. He would fly off the handle so easily it was annoying for even those who appreciated his insight.

Moreover, Edge (& BBK) handle their knowledge with modesty, whereas others made it feel as if we should be down on our knees praising them.

That's awesome. I wondered about Port Angeles as I drove through it. Got to the beaches near the Quillayute Reservation and into the Sol Duc Valley in my two days there. Not enough time, really.

And again, I totally get the questions.

But it's also why I try avoid the bold declarative stuff that is beyond what I would know, "The Rangers WILL get the [insert return]."

I try to cushion things by saying it's likely, or it's been discussed, or a player is a candidate to be picked, etc.

that pr background helps with those non declarative statements

Considering the fact you can't know if a team suddenly changes their mind, that is all you can realistically do. Nothing is truly done until calls are made to the league.

Yea, but I mean in reality, until it's confirmed, it should be implied that it's non-declarative.

Of course, in a place where people can be a tad irrational sometimes, it's better to go the extra mile and create a nice cushion in case things don't come to fruition.

Anyways, no one should really be questioning his credibility. Look at all the industry people that have come out discussing the same things Edge had before them. Brooks yesterday, Dreger today, etc.

It's a good life approach too.

Unless it's your decision to make, you have direct control over the outcome, or you have knowledge of the final decision, you can't make declarations and expect to not look like a fool more often than not.

You can express your opinion. You can report on what you've heard. But you have to be real careful about speaking on behalf of others.

Yeah, but Holland, Sakic, Chayka, and Botterill don't see the point of getting up any earlier than you can get breakfast pizza, which I have on good authority isn't until 9am in Vancouver.

That's why Gorton gets up early. It's all part of the strategy. Sakic in a carb coma is more likely to give up the 4th overall pick. :naughty:

Hope you got some pho while you were there. Best I've had outside Hanoi (granted, I haven't been to Minneapolis-St Paul).

Also, apologies if this is OT because it isn't about pizza.

Are you a Rangers fan? What kind of BS shoot yourself in the foot 15 times proposal is this!?!

ALEX ****ing NYLANDER? Who's super underwhelming so far?

Another LD prospect?

gtfo (no offense)

ps.: much of the cringy proposals are fueled by neo-liberal shortterm thinking ... I could vomit

I should've added the assumption of signing Panarin and having certainty to do so.

Also, I was referring to Olofsson the goal scoring left wing prospect, not an LD prospect.

I did not, unfortunately. I had time to eat at the hotel, eat at Seattle Center (not my top choice), and eat at the wedding I was attending.

I did have some absolutely amazing homemade clam chowder in La Push looking out at stacks off the beach in the Pacific.

That feeling when I knew the Rangers were picking first or second in this draft was unreal.

I still get a bolt of electricity and goose bumps when I think about it.
I had the draft playingon the nbcsports app on my phone on the dashboard of my car as the last light of the day was going down on i40w in Texas.

When Chicago was announced 3rd. It must have looked like I was drunk from behind me bc I was first pumping out the window of my car screaming
