How’s everyone feeling if it’s Vesey for Alex Nylander?
I'd be up for it... I think Vesey has plateaued and is what he is - which is serviceable - but there's potential upside with Nylander. Plus, I'm not sure I will want to pay for Vesey's next contract.

Preparing to be disappointed when the NYR don’t acquire another first. Memories of the Cam Talbot for 9th overall mania.

But then I remember Kappo ****ing Kakko and everything is gravy.

Then I remember Trouba. And Fox. And get giddy again.

JG is already playing with house money this offseason and it’s June 21st.

At the end of the day, I think I still take comfort in knowing these guys are willing to be aggressive, willing to be bold, are doing a good job of identifying talent, and focused on truly building a complete team from top to bottom.

Oh yeah, and we'll draft a guy with legit potential to be a franchise player in the NHL.

what did Dreger say?

Buffalo is 1 of 4 or 5 teams who have expressed interest in Vesey. Nylander's name has been thrown out there but more in general rather than as a piece straight up for Vesey, but he didn't deny that may be what ends up happening.

Also said that he expects the Rangers to be very active today along with Colorado and Potentially Vancouver.

I know tensions are high right now around here but I never said I'd pull the trigger on a deal like that. Kreider alone wouldn't get the 8OA on himself. I figured Edmonton would want a player they could probably afford to resign long term as opposed to Kreider who might not be so easy to resign.
I can't say I agree on giving up 50 goals and 100 points... it's not giving up on Kreider but rather Gorton trading him because he has no intention of extending him long term at the price and length that he wants. Nothing extravagant about paying Kreider around 7m per long term. That's just silly business.
Didn't mean to make the 8OA a touchy subject... its reported by a bunch around here that Gorton has been hot after Zegras. No idea if he's there at 8... just spitballin' like many other around here about potential trade partners and Edmonton possibly being one.

Not touchy at all --- didn't mean for it to come off the way at all.

Kreider also isn't the guy Edmonton is supposedly considering. It's Buch.

However please understand there will be another dip come 7-1-19 that should last thru 7-8-19 conservatively.

Ok good to send

For many, many years Free Agency was a hell lot more exciting than the Draft, thanks to Sather. But these last few years have been completely different. So refreshing!

That Zibanejad deal. lol Ottawa

All things considered, Gorton really knows how find a teams weakness and exploit that weakness for max value. Ottawa trades Zib + 2nd for Brass cause they save a bunch of cash. Fox and Trouba for cheap because they didn't want to resign with their respective teams, same thing for the devils and Rykov. Now Buff/Edm because they have trouble attracting UFAs.

I bet Gorton is a phenomenal poker player

So clearly another example of me pulling information from the media. Okay, I'll stop now. I think I've proven my point enough.

Moving on, Vancouver is a team I've suspected of being active today. Not just because they're hosting, but because I think they are a team that needs to show progress and that they're taking that next step. Whether that's bringing in talent, or drafting kids with high-impact potential, I can definitely see them working the phones.

Dreger also mentioned that he thinks Buffalo is moving Pick #31.

IF we get that pick for Vesey I will never complain about anything JG does.

Except refusing to buy out Staal, but thats warranted.

I think Alex Nylander is bad.

But I would still do that just to clear the space. I'd rather have a pick though.

Probably where I’m at. I don’t care what we get for Vesey just want his roster spot. Same for namestnikov

They should. They have an envious core of young talent and are like 2-3 pieces away from being a legitimate playoff team.

I've played semi-professionally for years, including multiple events at WSOP Circuit tours and I would just get up and walk away if JG sat down at my table. I don't care if he has never played Holdem or Omaha before. He is impossible to read.

I'm kind of shocked that more than 2 teams are interested in Vesey. He's the exact kind of player I feel like contending teams avoid.

I'd argue he's looked better in the AHL than everyone's favorite reclamation project from Edmonton.
Puljujarvi has been better at the NHL level, though it's not like it's a high bar.
