If you take the Buffalo deal, you get your center. If you go Edmonton, Buffalo has to take their winger, probably caulfield, and you get your center with the next pick anyway. Edmonton would have to send you salary back if they took a higher priced guy like Namestnikov.

Puljujarvi on the 2nd line eh.
I mean, ya, it’s not a perfect lineup, but that’s a team that could either potentially be a bubble team, or potentially be a lottery team, while also leaning heavily on younger players. So I think it’s a pretty ideal lineup for our goals next season (improve, but the expectation of improvement isn’t particularly high).

Not sure that I'm ready to trade Buch. Vesey can **** off and I understand not wanting to hang onto Kreider because of what Hayes just got. Buch took some strides towards the end of the year and I dont know if I would want to give that up to have a shot at drafting another player that could take the same amount of time to develop.
Gotta give to get. I understand the hesitation and wouldn’t do it in the teens (unless Newhook was still available), but for a top 10 pick, yeah. And I say that as a big Buch fan.

All things go well. Buchnevich is a 3rd line in 2 years. And damn would he be a match up advantage there.

But if you got capable 3rd liners coming up and yoh got the top dogs above him. Using a 3rd line wing whonwould be making 4.4-5 a year to move up for 1C prospect is smart play

Doesn't necessarily have to the be the usual suspects. Just something to keep in mind. When you look at some of the teams being mentioned in this thread, consider guys who are still young but haven't met expectations.

TBH, I have a little anxiety that you might slip and say too much too early that you’d regret later. Just err on a side of a caution.

Vesey, 3rd, and Claesson's RFA rights for A.Nylander.
Kreider @ 50%, Buchenvich @50%, Marleau's laundering service for W.Nylander
7th pick in 2029 to WSH for Michael Nylander's post retirement celebration and marketing rights
Free trip to NYC and a $10 Chase voucher to MSG food court for Peter Nylander and Thommy Nylander to attend the home opener.

What does that mean all things go well Buch is a 3rd line player?

All things go well and he maintains his production from the second half of last year and becomes a borderline first line player.

Since last night, the ball has tended to be in the other team's courts. Not to say negotiations can't/won't continue, but I feel like the Rangers have outlined some structures and expectations.

Remember, in every single instance, they're are the team giving up guys who have at least shown they are NHL players. We can talk about the value of high picks, or former high picks, or prospects until we're blue in the face. They're still unknown quantities.

When you start talking about combos of Buch and Names, you're still talking about 30 goals and 70 points combined. In the right environment and with room to grow, you're talking about sending another team 45 goals and 100 points.

Same with Buch and Vesey, a combo that's at roughly 40 goals/ 70 points right now, and maybe in the 50/100 range in the right setting elsewhere.

Then consider that while we all have our favorites for players we'd love to draft, you're most likely not getting that kind of production back straight-up --- now or five years from now. So while some will swear that their team "can't give up a high pick", there's often a little bit of overestimating on their part. That's why fans end up balking at the notion of a pick and a prospect. They assume the production of the pick is a given --- especially in the midst of draft fever as I like to call it.

7th or 8th overall is going to cost Kreider + a 2nd or something. Buch and Vesey get you nothing close to that. You ppl are way to optimistic.

A week ago Trouba was going to cost us Buchnevich, Lundkvist and the 20th overall. All comes down to how much a GM values these players.

If you think Buch and Vesey are 25+ goal scorers in your top six then they're well worth that pick and then some.
