With everything being said I am thinking its Buch and Vesey for the 8th and Pulj as the main pieces...
That would be another Gorton special IMO.

I don’t think that kind of trade would fit Holland’s MO, though. Then again, he could be reinvigorated and willing to venture off the beaten path with a new franchise.

The thing to remember with packages is that sometimes they have enhanced value to a team.

So, for example, let's say a team is looking for help on the third line and a guy who could bloom riding shotgun next to their top center, and you can offer both pieces, now you've got value added.

Or, you have a team that is seeing if it can put together an offseason where it finds multiple wingers to compliment its center depth, and you can offer multiple wingers, you've got value added.

Or maybe you have a bubble team that's looking for veteran scoring on the wings because it wants to get over the hump and into the playoffs where anything is possible, you've got the basis for a conversation.

And the returns don't have to be for one asset. They can be a pick where you feel you're assured to get someone you really like. Or maybe a reclamation project where you're gambling on potential as opposed to having a higher return now.

It's not necessarily all about a superstar, or a one for one trade.
Edmonton is the northern most city. Buffalo is lower than that. And Arizona is lower than both of them, the 3rd lowest, if you will.

Just some random facts.

I agree. I would be jumping for joy if that went through.

I do see why Edmonton would be at least considering paying a premium on a buch/vesey package. They need depth asap.

I don't think you can move Vesey, Buchnevich and Kreider with out getting at least an NHL body or 2 back in a deal OR you're 100% certain that Kakko and Kravstov can step in and be awesome right away.
I think if you like the deals you trade them all. You can pick up some depth forwards in free agency and maybe even flip them at the deadline.

Jimmy Vesey is a car freshener throw in if we're dealing with a top 10 pick deal. The primary piece of the deal has to be almost as good as the potential drafted player at that spot and then you throw a Christmas tree scented Vesey in there to close the deal. No one is trading #8-#10 for Buch as the main piece. Not sure if I'd be in a hurry to get rid of an RFA Buchnevich that could improve quite a bit for a 11-16 pick deal.

Not sure that I'm ready to trade Buch. Vesey can f*** off and I understand not wanting to hang onto Kreider because of what Hayes just got. Buch took some strides towards the end of the year and I dont know if I would want to give that up to have a shot at drafting another player that could take the same amount of time to develop.

Buch and Vesey to Buffalo

Kreider to Arizona

Like Edge said that's probably too many goals and assets going out and not enough coming back unless Arizona is gonna get CRAZY and send Keller and their 1st back or something

The Rangers aren’t going to launder Marleau for SJ
We have a lot of cap space, but I would rather use it to become more competitive instead of holding more dead weight with it. We already have enough thats set to come off the books within a couple of seasons.
