Depends on who’s available (cough Newhook cough), but in general I agree.I wouldn't, the odds a pick in that range is as good or better than Buch is not great. I suppose if that's the case plus they get another pick for Kreider they could get into the top-10 but that's a lot to ask for. And a lot of holes up front.
The thing to remember with packages is that sometimes they have enhanced value to a team.
So, for example, let's say a team is looking for help on the third line and a guy who could bloom riding shotgun next to their top center, and you can offer both pieces, now you've got value added.
Or, you have a team that is seeing if it can put together an offseason where it finds multiple wingers to compliment its center depth, and you can offer multiple wingers, you've got value added.
Or maybe you have a bubble team that's looking for veteran scoring on the wings because it wants to get over the hump and into the playoffs where anything is possible, you've got the basis for a conversation.
And the returns don't have to be for one asset. They can be a pick where you feel you're assured to get someone you really like. Or maybe a reclamation project where you're gambling on potential as opposed to having a higher return now.
It's not necessarily all about a superstar, or a one for one trade.
HuhFreddie Claesson's RFA rights and Boo Nieves to Washington for a condition 6th.
i completely agree you can trade say the buch vesey package for the 14 and then flip the 14 and krieder to edm for 8 poolparty and a pick to even out
People overvalue picks far too much. A middling first rounder is highly unlikely to become as good as Buch. It doesn't really make sense imo.
Top 10, or top 8, I'd feel much more comfortable.
Are you trying to allude to 8 + poolparty for Buch and Vesey?I think when you talk Buch, they would expect a higher first and something of intrigue. Reclamation projects are included in the latter.
Eh, you can still make them hold out. Teams seem to be too afraid to do that lately.

Re: Vesey, I would use Pionk as a comparable in terms of value. For some teams he's probably worth the equivalent of about a pick in the top half of the second round.
