He is not flying Southwest out of Midway. Schneider never left town. There will be 88 sweaters on sale in the team store. Several here will piss and moan about the outgoing trade. I think people are looking at MSL forcing himself here and still getting a pretty good return, but you have to remember that we hit a snide negotiating with Callahan and it would have seriously hurt our window not getting something for him. Both teams were desperate.

We're under absolutely no obligation to acquire Kane. It would be nice but the world keeps turning and the plan is the same in 23-24.

I just typed up a whole response where I defended the logic, but not the execution, of the Zubov trade. I then deleted it because trading Zubov was just stupid and I’m still mad about it.

This is NOT a hill I want to die on, but it seems like a big reason why a lot of people on these boards want Kane (aside from the discounted price) is "OMFG! We can't have Vesey in the top 6!", except Vesey has been good in the top 6.

SOMEONE has to go into the corners and retrieve pucks. Kane ain't getting his OD's dirty and Tarasenko is willing but he's also slower than a jar of molasses at the north pole. I honestly don't see how Kane fixes any of the issues on this team unless the plan is to outscore our mistakes.

Like I said, I don’t want him at the original ask before he narrowed down his list to just us. It’s not really about getting Vesey out of the top 6 for me as much as it’s about being able to ice a more balanced and deeper forward group. It sounds like they’re asking a lot for Gavrikov, which is my issue with it. Why over pay for him? He’ll play on the bottom pair and Pk. Braun or another similar d would be cheaper for that roll, that we’re hoping doesn’t have to play a game.

Oh great, I've already blocked out most of my day for pissing and moaning.

For the record: I'm not against the Kane trade, I just don't believe it should be high on the priority list of adjustments to get this team over the top in the playoffs.

The east is ridiculous now. Truly. I can't recall a time when there's been this many really strong contenders at the same time. It's crazy to think Carolina is likely in a second tier of contenders just in the east and they're first in the division. I suppose I don't know what teams will survive the playoffs at this moment.

But, if Igor doesn't become last year Igor in the playoffs it somewhat neutralizes what is supposed to be one of our biggest advantages.

I think NJ and Toronto are similarly deep up front. I think the Lightning and Bruins have the most heaviness.

And then the Lightning, Bruins and Hurricanes have the best team D structure.

I would like to see Robertson or Jones and Cuylle get a few games down the stretch if at all financially possible as we may need them for playoff depth.
