Roster Building Thread IV (2022-23): Luck of the Irish

Not to mention:

A.) Trocheck has been pretty damned good and brings elements that Buch simply doesn't have.
B.) Center depth, for the first time since the Hindenburg, is not an issue on this team
C.) Chytil has been pretty damned good.
D.) Buchnevich, believe it or not, has a cap hit higher than Trocheck's.

Didn't Buch start to PK at the end of his time here?

Buch supposedly was willing to sign for ~5.8m, which is still more than Trocheck and he would have never been moved to Center here, so all of this is moot anyway.

People just miss a homegrown player who actually blossomed before we traded him

Goodrow is obsolete with Vesey and Trocheck under contract. 3.6 mil is better spent on a top 6 RW than a bottom 6 RW/C who they dont like playing center.
But, but you can’t put a price on intangibles. No other player can bring what he does for a smaller contract

Go ahead and tell us what other ideas/speech you'd like to ban.
- the 94 trade deadline, including how many cups we would have won without the trades
- Mess as coach
- Avery
- Kravtsov
- comparisons between Hughes and Kakko
- mor tuffness!!!!
- Dolan's musical ability or lack thereof
- bad pizza

Half of these are things really pushed by one poster lol

I don't think we'd have the cap space or the picks.

I just hope Zegras doesn't sign a mega contract in Anaheim and lock himself in there. Sign a medium term deal so you can hit UFA sooner please.

I would think if NYR wants to acquire him before he's a UFA the most likely scenario would be he demands a trade and some negotiation through media makes it clear the only place he'll sign long term is here to get rid of other suitors. Seems unlikely though. That or he signs a deal with trade protection and once the NTC/NMC clauses kick in he demands a trade here.
Zegras for Panarin next summer. Deal will be one for one.

We'll be fine without Goodrow.

If there was no cap, sure, we'd keep him as a 4th liner. I just dont see the value at this point keeping him into next season
I know fighting is down but he's one of the few willing guys we have, probably find someone cheaper but they would need to, still need someone to handle that from time to time.

Well, if we just assume that Gallant will do what we don't want him to do and actually sticks with these lines, then at the least we can rationalize that good veteran players can figure out how to play with each other with enough time. Kreider-Zib and Panarin-Trocheck both have worked well with positive eye-test and fancy-stat results. Tarasenko is a very good vet, and Kane is a very good vet. Hope is not lost that they could legitimately just figure it out and get better over time. I'd rather root for that than do the world is burning and woe is me and f*** all of you here shenanigans.

Goodrow is a dime a dozen player making over 3.6M that we can get for half. The sooner he is gone the better. 1 big point in the last 15 games.

Terrible signing.

The Rangers need a long run this year so Drury can say “look at all this grit and leadership you should trade for.”

His contract kind of stinks too in terms of money, it’s the one Rangers contract that isn’t front loaded. He’s owed 10.1 million dollars in cash in the next two years.

Goodrow, Gourde and Coleman were all available, and they went out of their way to get Goodrow, who has the worse of the three and played LW. Never made any sense
Gourde is always injured and Coleman is more of “scoring depth.” Goodrow is a Swiss-army knife. He’s a very important player. A different player than Gourde and Coleman. I could’ve understood trying to get Gourde but he was under contract and Goodrow was not.

Not worth $3.6M, but when they got him I understood the reasoning. If they move on, it’s because they’re in a different spot in their progression and just need what he brings for below market value.

The amount of points Goodrow gets doesn’t matter. It’s not why he’s here.

its time to promote laf. lets see what the kids got.

also ive been dying to see kreider and chytil together for an extended look.

when healthy:

Laf - Zib - Tarasenko
Panarin - Tro - Kane
Kreider - Chytil - Kakko
Motte - Goodrow - Vesey
Brodz
