24/25 Waivers/Rumors/TDL Thread.

Zegras is 23 and a former top 10 pick who came out of the gate with back to back 60+ pts . Hes not mantha or AA

There's zero doubt if he was traded to the right team he'd get 60-75.
The whole ducks team is mess . Carlsson, mctavish, gauthier etc.. no ones putting up good numbers

All that being said I'd take him but not at any price but theres other guys I'd rather have ahead of him. He is in the right age of guys we should target to be on this team longterm

Not some near 30 aging vet who's best years are behind him who'll end up being the next copp, compher etc.. we cant get rid of

Who says? Plenty of players have great start to their careers and fade into nothing.

True... but just cause some guy named oddbob on a msg board thinks he sucks doesnt mean he'll be in switzerland in 2 years either

2205 might hit the Ducks timeline for a Cup.
Lmao too much talent on that team I dont know what's going on. I'd take mctavish in a second but I doubt they'd move him

Zegras 60-65 pt seasons are Lombardis absolute best case scenario, and would be a very good outcome for Buch too. Zegras has struggled for a few years but it’s not like he has never shown potential.
I don't disagree with that (in terms of best case for Ammo and real good prod for Buch) but its now been two seasons since Zegras has even trended towards those kind of numbers so it comes down to who do you think is more likely to do this in the future. If you think Zegras has the higher likelihood of repeating then maybe you make the deal and the spot for him. If you think Ammo and Buch could do it while also potentially being better defensively and/or better goal scorers then probably not.

Zegras is very skilled but has not produced in 2 years, has to supplant existing small skilled players in the Wings system, isn't great defensively, and is not going to be cheap either cap wise or trade asset wise. If Anh deals him as a cap dump/ change of scenery swap I could see the Wings being interested, but if they are treating him like a former top 10 pick who has 60 pts I don't think there is value in a small winger deal for the Wings.

Cozens is interesting because the Wings lack centers and bigger wingers in the system. We basically have MBN for sizeable wingers. Even if he proves to be a bad center, he still fits the current makeup of our system better. He has similar warts to Zegras (same he hit x points 2 years ago, etc), but I could see the Wings taking a gamble because he compliments our other pieces better.

What does my name have to do with anything? That line of thinking can literally be applied to every single person on this or any forum worldwide.

That line of thinking can be applied to any person here or forum worldwide? Yes I'm sure everyone worldwide thinks zegras will be in Switzerland in 3 years

Cozens would be the forward I'd pursue but I just cant see sabres dealing with another division rival especially after how reinhart has done in florida

I wouldn't thumb my nose at Zegras, but I am probably not willing to pay what it would cost to acquire him. This guys sure does live rent free in the heads of a lot of Wings fans.
What do you think the price would be?? He has struggled for 2 years so I can't imagine a team would give up a 1st and a top prospect/young player on the roster

The more I look at it, it becomes painfully obvious the wings FO wants cozens so they can finally have their 2c for the near future solidified. I think yzerman and co think they can fix him by putting him with a guy like debrincat and getting him out of buffalo. 7 mill with the cap increase is also not great but much more manageable. If they get rid of compher and we keep copp as 3c or 4c it’s not a bad addition. Problem is, I really don’t want to give up good assets to Buffalo. I would not feel comfortable trading Danielson or kasper for him, because he might not ever turn it around.

I dont think Yzerman moves Danielson or Kasper unless its for a young guy producing currently and with some track record. I could get behind Cozens for the right price, but there is also the chane he may not end up as good as Kasper or Danielson will eventually be (ignoring Cozens 68 point season). Plus I think Yzerman has an attachment to his first rounders and maybe a bit of a chip on his shoulder considering the lack of hype they get. Edvinsson wasn't viewed as much of a big time prospect outside the Wings board the last few years, besides a few posters. Kasper was a low end #2, high end #3 C at his peak... Cossa was a reach and we picked the wrong goalie... Raymond isnt a game breaking talent.. Mo doesn't have the offense or skill to be a #1... just the way I view it.

No, the line of thinking that anyone's opinion has no value. I also never said anything about Switzerland, that was your own made up concoction. Pretty sure it isn't that hard to know I was talking about the first bit of your post.

I think he can turn it around, I dont doubt it. I definetly also dont want to get rid of kasper and danielson .... I just dont see us being a good fit especially with us being in the same division

If pettersson gets deal I'm thinking itll be for cozens in a big deal. Cozens here would allow us to keep the kasper line intact. I know hes a C but many players change positions

He can always go back down the road

As of next season

Kasper larkin raymond
Debrincat cozens -
Soderblom danielson -
Rasmussen copp -

Those spots can be filled with kane if he comes back, mazur if he sticks, free agency, berggren etc

We might have to get a 3rd team involved if sabres dont want the pick and prospects

1st,2nd+,compher,veleno,berggren,wallinder,rasmussen,mazur plante are all in play for me

I know ppl like mazur and plante but way I see it with buchelnikov, nygaard, lombardi,,kiiskinen, finnie, james and whoever else I'm missing we can afford to do so.

Kids will be moved and some of the ones I didnt include I think have higher upside

Probably no chance but off the top of my head ... 1st+ compher+veleno+plante+berggren

Kasper Larkin raymond
Debrincat cozens kane
Buchelnikov danielson soderblom
Rasmussen copp mazur

I think that forward core and if we fix the d can do some damage next season.... regardless I think the fun times are just starting in Detroit

Alright

If you want Cozens to take steps forward, you need to bump him to the wing. If you are looking for someone to specifically play center, you will be disappointed.

Long term I could see Nate being a good match with Cozens. I just don't know what Buffalo would want that Detroit would be willing to lose...

... Unless we can con them into another "Kubalik and Sebrango" kinda deal.

I don't want Zegras, I just thought the typo in the link was funny

I'm not sure why people want him? So he can do the Michigan in Michigan?

He's always been overrated imo. I was so happy he didn't win the Calder. He was always a one trick Pony and then the league figured him out, not before he cashed in though.

Don't want him, never did. If somehow he ends up here I hope at least he ends up a better version of the one dimensional player he was in his first couple years.
